Hallo!
Sorry for posting this two times - I forgot the subject!!
I am running samba 3.01012 on a fc2 server. I have problems with samba/ cups
for some of my printers, and samba is filling up /var/log/messages with the
following lines:
-printing/print_cups.c:cups_queue_get(900)

cups related error messages
I'm using Samba 3.0.7 with the printername_and_queue_update.patch
(http://samba.org/~jerry/patches/post-3.0.7) from Jerry and cups as the
print spooler.
For every printer, where the samba printername and the cups printer name
differs, i get errormessages like the following:

Samba panics after error connecting to cups
Hi,
We have an issue with Samba panicking after an error connecting to
CUPS (see log below).
Samba 3.0.7
CUPS 1.1.20
Debian Woody
After the panic, CUPS is still oparational, but not Samba. I have to
kill -9 the smbd process befor I can restart it using the init
scripts.
Any pointers welcome.

Server crash results in no printing (SuSE, Samba 3.0.4)
(yes, I know it's an old version of Samba but I *really* don't want to
mess about upgrading right now)
The server in question (SuSE Enterprise Linux 9) got itself in a tizz
last night and was restarted cleanly via the shutdown -r command this
morning. Everything comes back up, including Samba, and all is fine.
Except that no-one can print.
Nothing has changed in any of the

Samba or Cups-Problem ?
Hi,
I'm using some kind of pseudo printer on our samba server to automatically
produce PDF files. The smb.conf looks like this (the samba server is
successfully conteced to an ADS):
[global]
workgroup = ADS
netbios name = pc103.ads.local
realm = ADS.LOCAL
security = ADS
password server = win2ksrv.ads.local

Samba Process stops while trying to print to a CUPS
I have a Linux RHEL 7.8 server that has been having issues with CUPS
printing with Samba.
A few notes:
- Samba Version 4.10
- CUPS Version 1.6.3
- Windows Connecting Client - Windows Server 2016
- I do see the print job making it to the configured path in the
smb.conf file
- I am able to manually print to the CUPs printer
- Therefore I know Samba is working, and CUPs are

Hi list,

Following (very strange) problem:
An ordinary windows user has mapped a drive F: on \\LUN1\Programme
(running samba-3.0.20b-3 debian). The program "F:\Network\PMail
V3\Pegasus Mail\winpm-32.exe" is being started, this works.
But after about 10 minutes, the same program start fails with "invalid

Printing with and without cups on the same machine
Hi all!
We have a samba 3.0.2a-Debian running in combination with cups.
I want to use cups to print to all "normal" printers (e.g. HP
Laserjet), which seems to run.
But I want also use a printer-script to genereate pdf Files using
gs (no, I don't want to use the pdf backend providet on the cups
web site, for several reasons...)
On a machine running samba 2.2.3a-13 without cups,

TDB functionality document
Hi,
Does someone know a document which explains the TDB structure.
functionalites, and format of the TDB files etc.
I need to understand why some of the TDBs like messages.tdb, unexpected.tdb,
brlock if not read_only, locking.tdb, session.tdb, wins.tdb are called with
TDB_CLEAR_IF_FIRST tdb flags.
Why some TDBs are opend with O_RDWR|O_CREAT flags viz. gencache.tdb,

The Ghost Queue of Summer
Hi:
I have a problem with my Samba print queue, I think. I started a print job back in June and the queue seemed to get overloaded. Since that time I can't print to that printer through the Samba queue. Even stranger, every couple of days random pages print out from that job! This has been going on all Summer.
I would like to clear the queue and get Samba's printing queues up and

strange DOS-Error 58
Hi,
based on Bart Lagerweij's ( www.nu2.nu ) bootdisk, I've created a small
DOS system that users can start by booting from network ( PXE ). The
system is configured to map a network drive from a Suse 9.0 Pro / Samba
server with various tools on it. The connection is anonymous.
Until recently everything worked fine but suddenly there are strange
errors:

printing = cups
printcap = /etc/printcap
when In try to remove a job which are printing, I have a acces deny.
But when I look in cups log :

If I execute lpq -P xxxx, I see that the #2478080 is the size of file to
print.
It's a cups format or a redhat problem or samba problem I

what are *.tdb files?
In /varcache/samba/ I have several .tdb files. Like brlock.tdb,
locking.tdb, ntdrivers.tdb, etc. Excusing my ignorance, what are these
files, and what do they do? And why must they be copied when migrating
from one samba server to a new one?

No network management of print jobs possible
Hello!
I?ve running samba 2.05a on suse linux 6.3 as a server with Win95 and
Win98 clients and everything works fine.
The only problem is, that users can?t manage (kill, resume,...) their
print jobs once the print jobs are sent to the samba printer. When I
read docs and books, it sounds that it?s possible to manage print jobs
over network. As printing system I have "lpq command = plp",

Clarifying CUPS Printing
We have been using CUPS to handle printing and have run into some "features"
some of which a fresh install of the responsible server will probably fix.
However there are some disparities between the documentation and our
practical experience for which a clear statement would help others.
The docs state when using CUPS the relevent lines of SMB.CONF should look
like this:
printing=cups
