Configuration file question
Where are the configuration files for libvirt and/or virsh actually stored? It seems that most of them are in /etc/libvirt but identical copies are also found in /var/lib/libvirt. In my case I am having issues with the network/default.xml file being different. Is there a reason why the config seems to be in two places at once? And which one is the 'correct' one? -David Mitchell

Hello Mailinglist, I have created a local user "localuser" who is in the local group "localgroup" $ id uid=1001(localuser) gid=1001(localgroup) groups=1001(localgroup) My machine authenticates against Active Directory - works The AD-User "aduser" belongs to a domain group "adgroup" $ id uid=6161(aduser) gid=5513(dom?nen-benutzer)

domain users in local groups with Winbind/Samba/Redhat
Hi, I am running a Samba 2.2.7a on Redhat 7.3 in a NT domain. For authentication I am using the domainusers. This is done by Winbind 2.2.7a which verifies the existens of the users on the PDC. So I dont't have to create local users (/etc/passwd) for users who want to connect to the shares in the smb.conf. I authorise them by adding valid users = domain+domainuser to the smb.conf. This works

A question about Samba, authentication, groups, quotas, etc.
Hello, Server: Ubuntu Lucid server version Role: Samba file server (I administer it) Authentication: Against a Windows AD (I do not administer it) using winbind. No other authentication scheme is practicable/possible - I do NOT want to manage passwords locally on this machine. LDAP: Not explicitly configured - local policies require a binary *.so file that does not work with Debian based systems

Winbind syslog errors and Domain Local Groups
Hello all. I'm relatively new to Samba, and haven't been able to track down a solution to this particular problem. I use Samba/Winbind to authenticate FreeBSD machines against a Windows 2003 Active Directory. That all works fine. The problem is that groups in the AD of type "Security Group - Domain Local" are causing winbindd a lot of grief. Every time the winbindd daemon is

Q about net groupmap examples on samba.org
Considering the following page... http://us3.samba.org/samba/docs/man/guide/small.html First of, my compliments to John for some great examples to study. In my mind I see three levels of security: 1) Linux - such as SSH'ing into the Linux server, Linux accounts and groups come into play here 2) Samba PDC - "Domain Admins" "Domain Users" come into play here. Lots of "Failed to create" error messages after upgrading to 2.0.25c
Hello, I recently upgraded from Samba 3.0.22 to 3.0.25c on Solaris, and after doing so I noticed a sudden proliferation of new error messages in the Samba log, such as: [2007/08/27 15:36:03, 2] smbd/sesssetup.c:setup_new_vc_session(1200) setup_new_vc_session: New VC == 0, if NT4.x compatible we would close all old resources. problem with samba PDC and Windows 7 loading roaming profiles
Since years I have a Suse Samba PDC running with Win2000 and WinXP clients. Now I tried to add 2 Win7 clients and I'm having a problem. Win7 don't load my roaming profiles, Win7 always logged in to a domain user using a temporary profile. First I upgrades to Samba 3.4.2 (Suse 11.2), than I set the registry entries according Samba wiki: http://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Windows7 Now I was

samba and BUILTIN groups
Hi all, yesterday I installed Samba Version 3.0.23b on our new fileserver. We currently have another fileserver with Samba 3.0.22. Our existing fileserver is compiled from source because we patched it to support Windows 2003 Server R2 active directory schema. (We changed the OIDs Samba reads from the ADS schema.) Now we want to replace it with rpm-packages of the new version. We installed a

Is 'force user/group' misbehaving?
Hello list, I'm running ubuntu server 7.10 amd64 and trying to set up a samba server for a LAN. Samba version is 3.0.26a IIRC (I can't access the machine ATM) I'm stumped with a problem and I believe it's related, somehow, with the 'force user' parameter, so I created this testcase to seek for help... In the example smb.conf I'm trying to create one share accessible

Strange Samba permissions
Hi, I am really stuggeling with Samba, searched forums and checked tutorials, so far with no success. So you are my last resort and probably the first place I should have checked, but I am completly new to mail groups, so please be patient with me. Users can log in to the Samba PDC domain successfully and get the login script executed just fine. But: 1.) If user A is creating a file then user
