help me....
Life times of one brand of light bulb were observed. Life hours of nine light
bulbs were 898, 720, 354, 405, 620, 54, 229, 306, 890. There were three more
light bulbs that were still burning after 1000 hours. It is common to assume
the life time of a light bulb follows an exponential distribution. With the
observed data find the MLE of the parameter of the exponential distribution

gpxelinux.0 under a QEMU GPXE virtual boot rom?
You're all back! (yippie!). Now I can ask the question that's been nagging
at me over the past month...
Is booting gpxelinux.0, under QEMU, which provides it's own GPXE capable
boot rom supposed to work? Or, is it a redundant (the GPXE boot room
already provides the functionality of gpxelinux.0) and suicidally dumb thing
to do? I've found some references to other people

Collins Master Dictionary (closer yet)
Hey, thanks for all the help,
the
"Desktop"="800x600"
line in the .conf file helped a lot, the elements within the window don't
dissappear anymore. Thanks! :)
Only one little glitch is keeping the program from being useful:
The dictionary doesn't use a standard 'search' field and button as one might
expect, instead, all of the entries for the selected

Migrating to rails... best way to redirect old urls?
Hey all -
I''m migrating an app from PHP to Rails and was wondering what the best way
to redirect the old urls are. I would like to do a 301 as I''m told that
makes Google the happiest.
We''re using lighty as the server and I believe it has rewrite
capabilities, but I can''t get to their site right now.
Anyway, I''m wondering if it''s best

Monitor/Restrict network traffic of XEN Client
Hi List,
(Long time lecher, first time poster)
Not sure if this is the best place to ask, but here goes..
I have a few test Guests on a Xen host, and I would like to start monitoring
(and maybe restricting) the network traffic of the guests but not the Host.
No I know this can be done with iptables, but I just wondered if anyone knew
of a package or how-to to set this up with Xen on CentOS 5 ?

ftable.formula
I apologize in advance if this is the wrong forum for this
report/request, and for the fact that I have not read the code for
ftable.formula in any detail.

following two calls to ftable would produce the same results:

Rails on FreeBSD or OSX
Hello everyone-
I was just reading the article on Rails at O''Reilly and one of those
little light bulbs over my head went off - what a GREAT tool.
I tried to install both Ruby on my Mac PowerBook without much luck and
then tried to install Ruby and Rails on a FreeBSD server I have. I am
running into some odd errors - so, my question is - can you point me to
some tech resources

Hi List,
I have come across the above handset a few times in the UK, They
are quite cheap over here (~?80) Not the best handset in the world but
works well enough. I have been asked to setup a central config server
for a large collection of these handsets. I know they can do Auto

-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA1
Hi List,
What I hope is a simple question...
As the subject states, I would like to know if anyone has setup a
Multi Tenant Asterisk Server ?
If so, what would I need to do to get to a Multi Tenant setup
(preferably an Open Source solution) ?
Any suggestions/comments/pointers/URLs ?

Hi.
Stefan, thanks for your ongoing support. I believe your mothertongue
is German as well but I will go on writing in English so everybody
can participate
In meantime I found in several other newsgroups that I'm not the only
one, but I did not find a solution)

Zero, or close to zero, is low. 12 is high.

This is explained at:
http://flac.sourceforge.net/format.html
in the bulleted point beginning, "FLAC
specifies a subset of itself as the Subset

On linux, to get 'domain\user' to resolve, I had to have
those entries in my /etc/passwd (and /etc/group for groups).
I.e. *w/o krb*, (in samba 3.x), I had entries like:

wxruby swig progress
I''ve checked a number of new .i files into the wxruby-swig tree. Not all
of them are fully tested, but I thought it would be better for them to
be there than to have somebody start duplicating the work. I''ve also
added the ''caret'' and ''image'' samples, as well as the generic etc/test.rb.
These need the unreleased SWIG-1.3.22. The current

WinXP3: NBNS query: non-exist; Wireshark: "'NB ?'<00>" & "'NB ?'<20>"
I'm getting some odd queries from a WinXPSP3 client to an older samba
(3.2.0-24) Domain & File server running on linux kernel (2.6.27.19).
The client seems to be querying for a netbios name <literal-question mark>
followed by binary 0 (<00>) to the DomainServer, or Broadcasting the query
with the '?' followed by a space <20>.
This is from conversation over wire

JIT-Client for Shared Memory
Hello everyone,
I want to use the LLVM to write a JIT client, that works with shared memory. Currently I proceed as following:
I wrote an own class that inherits "RTDyldMemoryManager". The functions "allocateCodeSection" and "allocateDataSection" are allocating local non-shared memory. I store there addresses in a std::vector.
When the function

Disabling a gamepad
I'm using a ps3 gamepad to play windows games using wine, and in almost every game tried (devil may cry 4, grid wars, trackmania nations forever), wine does some ridiculous thing with constantly making everything go left. (I imagine it's an issue with the left thumbstick mapping. I have tried with multiple PS3 controllers and can confirm it's not a hardware issue).
Anyway, the going

Using NFS - which OS would you chose
Hi,
I'm still looking at a large (under 100,000) user deployment of
Dovecot, with a NetApp NFS server as the back-end storage.
I've read a few remarks about needing the latest NFS patches from
Trond Myklebust to prevent lock-ups.
My management would be happiest with a vendor-supported distribution
(and especially Suse Linux Enterprise Server 9 or 10). We will be
running on an x86
