Problem with disk space.
Hi! I'm using samba 3.0.10 on a server with Mandrake kernel 2.6.3-16mdkenterprise. I've configured my samba server and my windows machines, and every thing seems to work fine. The only problem I have, is when I log off from my windows client. I get message no space left on device, which is not true, and the profile stored in Documents and Settings\UserName is not copied to the

samba, RedHat and Windows XP Home
Howdy. I'm running samba-3.0.2-2 (from the binaries on samba.org) on a RedHat 9 box with kernel 2.4.20-28.9. I can access shares from my Windows XP Home box, but the performance isn't very good. When I looked into this, I discovered that apparently the connections are getting dropped, over and over again, which causes a lot more work, I'm sure. Here's a snippet from my main

Quota Problem with Samba 3.5.8
Hello, for some strange reason I can not get quota to work with Samba 3.5.8. The quoata system itself works fine (using "repquota /mountpoint") and via NFS, but Samba does not report the correct free space (df command in smbclient). Instead the real free space on the disk volume is shown to smb clients (tested from Windows and smbclient). The quotasystem in use is the new quota

display disk size and free space
Hi, using samba 3.0.X I have the following situation: I defined a share [lab] with path = /lab /lab in fact is bound to an automounter map containing about 20 mountpoints so that (under linux) I am able to access /lab/A /lab/B ... I want the same situation using windows. My [lab] share enables me to use \\fileserver\lab\A \\fileserver\lab\B ... So far so good. But the data concerning disk size

vfs_get_ntquota() failed for service
Hello all, I have a problem with samba 3.6.6 on a Debian 7 . It floods the daemon log file with this error: vfs_get_ntquota() failed for service [DevSfrCloud] I notice that it may be the reason for a lag time when making file operations like updating a tree from subversion. I didn't find any answer searching on google. Is anyone can explain me how to stop this check of quota? I tried to

quota-support seems to be broken in 3.0.6/3.0.7
Hello we're using samba based on the debian-package, which we translated including the configure-option "--with-quotas" The user-interaction with quotas is OK, in his (the users) view the partition-size is limited to his quota-hard-limit. This works both with XFS and EXT3. Windows (XP SP1 and SP2) administration of quota is not possible. Using 3.0.5 I can do a

Disk free space, quotas and GPFS
I am migrating the main file servers at work onto a new storage platform based on GPFS. I am using RHEL 5.6 with the samba3x packages (aka 3.5.4) recompiled to get the vfs_gpfs and tsmsm modules, with a couple of extra patches to vfs_gpfs module to bring it 3.5.8 level. It is running with ctdb against Windows AD 2008 R2 domain controllers with all the idmapping been held in the AD. In order to

with streams_xattr enabled, ads are written correctly but not retrieved
Hello, I'm running Samba 3.6.6-1 on my x64 Arch Linux installation. I recently decided to have my samba share support NTFS's Alternate Data Streams by using streams_xattr or streams_depot. With streams_xattr I discovered that if I copy a file having an ADS from a win7 box, on the linux console, I can see the ADS as an xattr attached to the file. However when I copy the file back to my

Problem with Samba cutting dir listings short

I can connect just fine, but I quickly noticed a lot of files seemed to be missing. After some testing I found out that the directory listing was simple cut off, right in the middle of a filename even. I created a test-directory with 1000 random files in

Using NetWkstaGetInfo / NetWkstaUserEnum with samba server
Hi, I'm trying to get a Linux machine set up so that it will respond to NetWkstaGetInfo and/or NetWkstaUserEnum NetAPI requests from a Windows machine. I have samba configured and working to authenticate in the Windows domain with smb, nmb and winbind daemons running, and can browse shares on that machine from a Window PC, authenticating as either the domain administrator or a domain user.
