Samba panic in encoding
Hi,
Urgent help is needed ..
I just upgraded Samba2.2.8a to Samba3.0.1rc1, but the fold I created before
on a share can not be accessed anymore. Say, there is a folder "??folder"
with some German characters ), it can be accessed in Samba2.2.8a; but it
can NOT be accessed in Samba3.0.1rc1, it says 'The folder was moved or
removed" on a Win2k client. I understand the reason

Status of Samba3 Beta3
OK I am a 2.2.8a/LDAP user and have thus far been very skeptical about
making the switch to Samba3. I have seen inconclusive evidence of Beta
3's success rate from the postings since its release. So my question
is...
Has anybody been able to get Samba3b3 to act as complete replacement for
their Windows or Samba2.2.8a PDC? How about with an LDAP backend? Is
it stable and bug-free enough

Samba 2.2.8a on RedHatLinux 8.0
I have installed Samba2.2.8a on a RedHatLinux 8.0 server. After trying
several different changes to the 'smb.conf' file and several other
tests I still cannot see the samba Server from the windows XP and
windows 2000 client. When I run smbclient -L localhost this is what I
get:
added interface ip='ip address of my host' bcast=x.y.z.255(actual

another Win2KSP3/Samba2.2.8a-PDC Problem
Hi list,
I am faced by a strange problem w/ one of our 10 win2k/sp3 clients in a

this(translated from german): "Your profile has not been loaded, but you
will be logged in to a local Profile. Your serverside profile has not been
loaded because its security-properties are not properly." and that's it.

Hi, and thanks in advance for your support (sorry my english)
Is there any documentation for migrating Samba 2.2 with LDAP and PDC

unable to fetch password
Hello,
Less than an hour ago I sent you a message regarding the "Unable to fetch
machine
password" error I was receiving on our new HP9000 11.23 machine. I have
fixed the
problem. The -P parameter that was OK in samba 2.2.5 in the smbclient
command
was causing the error in samba 3.0.14. I removed it and am printing fine.
Thank you,
- Bill

Seeking advice: Backup Exec & Samba shares
Fellow Samba-shakers,
I've run into an odd problem, and I'm seeking the advice of anyone who has implemented Veritas Backup Exec 8.6 or 9.0, on an NT 4.0 server platform, to perform backups of NetBSD 1.6x systems via Samba file shares. Said problem did NOT manifest itself until I tried using Samba 3.0.0. I have jumped back to 2.2.8a, since that's the last version that was known to

Samba3 PDC with LDAP
Dear All,
I still cannot get Samba3 (beta3) to work as PDC with
LDAP backend. I still encounter the problem of having
to join an XP workstation two times in succession
before the join is successful. This does not happen on
Samba2.2.8a. For both Samba 2.2.8a and samba3 beta i
have workstation accounts added directly to ldap (via
add-machine-script) without adding a corresponding
entry in

domain_client_validate: unable to validate password for user MACHINE$ in domain DOMAIN to Domain controller \\DC. Error was NT_STATUS_NOLOGON_WORKSTATION_TRUST_ACCOUNT
Hi Samba users -
I recently upgraded my domain at home from being controlled by two
somewhat messed up Windows DCs (one 2000 and the other 2003, messed up by
my own inexpert management..) to a nice clean new single 2003 DC (SBS, if
it matters).
I rejoined all workstations, including a Redhat Fedora FC3 based machine,
to the new domain. (Actually, I migrated all of the Windows workstations
