samba 3.2.5 + ACLs - read/write permission become read only
IN SHORT:
- READ+WRITE becomes READ ONLY
- OWNER ACL Permissions for "another User" affects Group ACL Permissions
Hi Experts,
we recently figured some strange behaviour on our Debian 5 (Lenny, uname
2.6.26-2-686) + Samba 2:3.2.5-4lenny14 server that i would like to
discuss here. I cannot tell apart if its a bug or just lack of
understanding. Here is the Scenario:

Inherited ACLs can not be removed on Solaris10 sparc
Hi,
I have a problem with the removal of inheritance ACLs of subdirectories.
It almost sounds like only adding ACLs work but removals of inheritance
ACL's not.
By default the access rights (including ACLs) should be inherited, but
it should also be possible to remove the access rights from any
subdirectory.
This is what I am trying to do, I have a share called media with some

SAMBA AD VFS:Recycle bad permissions
In the fact, I don't undestand. I have no problem with deleted files,
and I have 700 on .deleted folder because I don't need to have users be
able to open deleted folder with deleted files, it is only for me. If
VFS:recycle is enabled, new created files on share folder (not .deleted
folder, not deleted files) permission to this folder are limited by mask
and owner is "root".

Cannot change directory permissions
Hi Rowland,
sorry, I hit the wrong reply button in the last answer.
So there is no other way than to use Windows ACLs?
I was told with our old systems (Samba 3 in non-domain mode) the behaviour I want to achieve was possible when only using ugo.
Greetings,
Felix

SAMBA AD VFS:Recycle bad permissions
I had similiar issue on samba 4.8 domain member (new files with wrong
permissions), when I realised that You need to list all modules that You
wish to use in "vfs objects" every time , there is no inheritance from
global -> shares that is if You have e.g.
[global]
...
vfs object = acl_xattr
..
[some share]
...
vfs object = recycle
..
On samba DC "acl_xattr" is

ACLs only apply to primary group?
Hi,
I wonder if someone confirm this behaviour or point out my obvious
mistake - gluster mounts via the native (fuse) client don't seem to
work properly with POSIX ACLs, example:
[jim at puppet ~]$ ls -la /mnt/
total 24
drwxr-xr-x 4 root root 4096 Feb 16 16:49 .
dr-xr-xr-x 23 root root 4096 Feb 17 10:32 ..
drwx-----x 3 root root 4096 Feb 15 03:00 arccontent

I still think this is a bug..
why not a bug:
If i do assign a UID/GID to a user, then yes, this wil work fine.
new users and groups sure.. but now im talking about the default domain groups..
why a bug:
User administrator and the domain groups are set by default by samba.

Bug? "inherit acls" not working as expected
Hello
I'm running Debian Etch with distro kernel & Samba package (2.6.18-5-686
& 3.0.24-6etch9).
In my smb.conf I have :
inherit owner = yes
inherit permissions = yes
inherit acls = yes
I start with a dir test1 with no rights for group smb-Users, rx for
group smb-Inf, and rwx for group smb-Bme-Fr :

Failure permission in Sysvol and GPO
Dear,
I'm having trouble handling GPO's my DC.
Environment:
Samba 4.4.5, primary and secondary DC.
I am not allowed to edit the GPO's.
The problem occurred after I edit the Default GPO in the primary DC, and then run the rsync to synchronize between the DC's.
The following errors arise when squeegee commands:
Note: I hid the actual domain name.
# samba-tool gpo aclcheck

Set ACLs on Samba share from Windows
Okay, let's try this again.
I have a Samba server, joined to my Windows Active Directory domain, and
I'm having a problem setting ACLs on a share from Windows. On Windows, I
get the error message "Unable to save permission changes on <folder>. The
parameter is incorrect." and when I look in my Samba log, I see the
message "ACL is invalid for set (Invalid

ctdb node disable windows xcopy break
Hi,
What did I miss / do wrong? My config didn't work like on the
below linked video:
http://www.samba.org/~tridge/ctdb_movies/node_disable.html
With my config, the copy process fails/breaks despite that the
tesztxp PC successfully maps the other (samba) PC in case the
first (samba) PC is out. In the samba logs (even at log level = 10)
I didn't see any information that can help me solve
