Linux disk quota support
Dear Listmembers,
I installed samba-3.0.28 and configured --with-quotas, but I don't seem
to be getting quota support. Is there a description on how to do quotas
with samba? Is there something I should know about besides the
configuration
option --with-quotas?
Thank you,
Emre Brookes

Problem compiling Samba from source
Hi,
It's taken me ages to get past teh compile dependencies and having to
build most of the dependencies from source. I then ran make and within
a few short compilations the samba3 make fails with the following
errors:
~/samba-3.5.5/source3> make
Using CFLAGS = -I../lib/zlib -I/app/utils//include -O -I.

I'm running into a problem. I have a workaround. Let me know if I

samba-3.3.4 AD/krb5/pam build failure on AIX 5.3/6.1 UNKNOWN_CREATE_KEY_FUNCTIONS
Hi all!
Perhaps someone here could tell me if this has been seen before.
We're trying to build samba-3.3.4 for IBM AIX with support for PAM, Active Directory, and Kerberos.
The end goal is to be able to join the AIX system to our Active Directory domain so that users can log in via their AD username/password, and have access to their home directory via the Windows pass-through authentication

Samba 3.5.6, Solaris 10, pam_winbind.so will not link
Greetings,
Still no progress trying to get Samba 3.5.6 built on Solaris 10, using
gcc 3.4.6.
Maybe fresh eyes will see something? Been having issues building samba
since 3.4.9 (and anything greater than 3.2.15 on Solaris 9 where samba
will build, but winbind will not work properly for user authentication.)
techops$ make
Using CFLAGS = -I/opt/local/kerberos5/include -O -I.

Compiling 3.4.0pre1 via makerpms.sh
Hi,
I have a number of issues compiling samba 3.4.0pre1 using makerpms.sh,
under the RHEL folder in packaging.
1) samba.spec refers to 'source' when the folder has been renamed to
'source3' (easy enough to amend) which made it fail very early on.
2) Following that - (apologies in advance, if I have gone over the top
in pasting output), it seems to be complaining about missing

Ghost Create account: procedure number out of range in Samba
Hello,
I would like to clone a Windows XP workstation that's part of a Samba
domain using Norton Ghost.
In Ghost you need to create an account in the domain to be able to add your
domain to the list of supported domains by the Norton Ghost console.
When I try to add such an account, I get this error message:
Unable to add DOMAIN to the list of supported domains,

Administering SWAT using userid's other than root...
Hi all...
Has anyone got SWAT administration working from other userid's other than
root?
I've got a rh6.2 box running Samba 2.0.7. I have myself (wkim) in the
"domain admin users" and the "admin users". Both the smb.conf file and the
swat binarary are owned by root:swat. I'm a part of group "swat". (I'm also

The single WINS problem: question
hello
I've been reading the thread
(http://marc.theaimsgroup.com/?t=113286376900001&r=1&w=2) and I have
the same limitation with WINS in a PDC/BDC.
That's why I have the following (experimental) setup:
PDC ==> wins support = yes, passdb backend: master ldap
BDC ==> wins support = yes, passdb backend: slave ldap
I configured some of my XP clients to use both WINS servers

SAMBA-LDAP and variable substition
Hello,
Im using Samba and LDAP together and if I use the scriptPath attribute for
a user defined in LDAP, it seems that variable substitions no longer work
like they did when you're using the global logon script parameter in smb.conf.
example:
scriptPath = scripts\%m.bat ==> %m.bat is NOT substituted to machinename.bat
Because the "logon scripts" directive of smb.conf will
