R information
Hello everybody,
I'm a beginner to R language. That's why I have some questions deal with
graphs.
In fact, I would like to know if it is possible to draw a plot with 2 y axis
against x axis (like gnuplot with the function replot)?
In fact, I would like to plot in y1 axis, a temperature value for x values and
in the same plot, plot y2 axis which represents the density for x values. And

Using logon.bat files in samba ad-dc
Hi, all.
I know that the Samba people do *not* advise using shares in the ad, but,
in the current circumstances, this will have to be done. At least until
there is another technical-administrative context.
In the very old previous installation (Suse 42, samba 4.4.2), using
openLdap, I used logon.bat scripts to map Samba shares to windows client
devices ("net use K: \\mydomain\cj /persistent

call Fortran from R
Dear R users,
I have to call fortran program from within R (R 2.8.1 on ubuntu 8.10

Suppose I have a fortran code like this (this is only a toy model, my
working model is far more complex, but input/output is similar)
DOUBLE PRECISION FUNCTION model(times, alfa, beta)

Samba AD valid users issue
I have setup a new server centos 5.1 server as a storage
server with over 7TB of storage. The server has been
integrated into a large Active Directory network there are
5 primary AD servers and a large number of local AD server
at each location (over 20). There are also over 15 trusted
domains hundreds of groups and thousands of users. It has
been quite a challenge to integrate the Linux

Sysvol: users - access denied
Hello,
I have a question regarding to access permissions.
Recently I have upgraded my DC from version 41.12 to 4.1.21. This weekend I
have decided to upgrade to 4.3.3.
I have noticed that my users weren't able to access the sysvol share after
the upgraded to 4.3.3.
As a test I have created a new user "test" and I was able to open the
sysvol share without any issues.
Next I have

Using idmap backend = ad
Good day!
I have AD on Win2003 Server with Services For UNIX 3.5.
When I try to set idmap backend = ad and type
# id <domain_user_name>
I get in log.winbindd-idmap following:
[2007/11/07 18:09:18, 1] nsswitch/idmap_ad.c:idmap_ad_sids_to_unixids(613)
Could not get unix ID
AD user has SFU UID 20000000.
wbinfo -u prints correct lists of domain users,
and when using idmap bakend = tdb

NT 4 workstation login confirmed by Samba?
Hi,
How does one configure NT 4 workstation so that it will take the
username/password pair typed in by the user on the console, and pass it to
a PDC (in this case, Samba) for workstation/Domain login verification?
Further details:
The server (1.9.19, yes, I know that's alpha) is configured to be a PDC.
We have several hundred Unix accounts, for which both the username and
password are

Offline Folders
We have just recently started using Windows XP Offline Folders here,
and it is causing all sorts of festive problems. If a folder is set for
offline use on a client, whether that folder is on our samba server or
not, the samba server becomes unavailable or only very slightly
available at best.
Example:
Explorer - Windows 2003 Server, Quattro - samba 3.0.22 server on

Mini HowTo AIX4.3.3-AD-Winbind
Integrating SAMBA\WINBIND on AIX 4.3.3 with Microsoft Active Directory.
Overview: This document is a roadmap on how you can integrate SAMBA with
your Active Directory environment. This configuration will allow
your Samba server to appear as a member of Active Directory. It will also
allow your telnet sessions to use Active Directory for
authentication.

Hi Rowland,
Your mention of ntvfs is the first I've heard of it. A cursory search
reveals it was implemented in alpha versions of Samba4, did I provision this
domain incorrectly? Below are the commands I used when provisioning

Timezone warnings on package install in R-alpha
Dear all,
As of the current R alpha release, I'm seeing timezone-related warnings on
installing any package (including the recommended ones), which I haven't
seen before. For example,
[~/Documents/Source/R-alpha]$ bin/R CMD INSTALL ~/git/tractor/lib/reportr
* installing to library '/Users/jon/Documents/Source/R-alpha/library'
* installing *source* package 'reportr' ...

Yet another 3 vs 4 question
We are currently looking at upgrading our PDC which is currently Samba
3.4.7 with OpenLDAP backend for authentication. As it stands we are only
wanting to move it to new hardware and possibly run the latest 3.X.X
branch. However one of my co-workers suggested why not look at samba 4.
We understand it is still in alpha but from what we read it is ready for
production use.

I use Active Directory Group policies for:
settings in windows
folder redirects
printer distribution base on user or group..
software installations base on user or group..
and Single Sign On for multple systems, windows and linux.

Odd, but this topic doesn't seem to be getting much traction. I wonder what
people are using Samba4 for. Outside of hard-cord samba-junkies who love
spending hours testing all kinds of esoteric features, I think most serious

Samba4 DC/AD documents created in redirected folders with bogus UID
Oooo!! You may have something there! I don't know whether these users are in the
admin group, but they could be. I have been messing around with admin priv in
order to allow users to be admins on their own workstations. I've got a Group
Policy method with computer startup script and have also created a login on the
user's workstation with the same name as the user, but as local

Samba 4 AD DC "Element not found" error in Windows 8
Hi:
I've just configured a Samba 4 install as an AD DC, following the Wiki
page at https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Samba_AD_DC_HOWTO
I've successfully joined a few machines to the domain, and am now
trying to add some simple shares.
When I add a share to smb.conf, it appears on client machines via
\\domain.example.com\sharename but trying to open any shares gives the

Samba4 DC/AD documents created in redirected folders with bogus UID
Yes, you are correct.
The users where the UID 3000000 was the owner were users that belong to
Domain Admins group.
Is this the correct behaviour ? I have other users that are in different
groups (e.g. Marketing) and whenever they create a new file, their own UID
shows up as the owner of that file, not the "Marketing" group.
This only happens with Domain Admins ?
Thanks.
