samba 3.6.0: cannot delete files on shares

After updating samba to the new version 3.6.0 on my Linux systems at home
and at work, I found the problem that I could not delete files on my shares.
This did not occur on the home system, but only on the work system, so I
looked for differences between the two. I found that the usage of
non-encrypted passwords triggers the problem. I use this on my work system,

NUX Skype for Linux
generic way to find where something is being called, if you known the
name of that something:
enter as your user in terminal:
# su - youruser
$ grep -irs skype . | less
now just need to parse the output, find where its being called
(probably .X?? or .x?? or .gnome??), remove it.

Thank you. I had not thought of that, probably because I never
encountered the need before. None-the-less, there is no entry in that
list which appears related to Skype.

It blacklists /usr/bin/skype from prelink. Not sure why, but it
wouldn't affect make your system automatically start skype.
Read 'man prelink.conf':
-b --black-list=PATH
This option allows

CentOS6 - Stop NUX Skype auto-start with gnome desktop
How does one configure Skype/Gnome such that one can have Skype
installed but not auto-start when the Gnome desktop opens?
I have looked in the 'System/Preferences/Startup Applications' menu
but Skype is not listed there. There are no options in the
Application itself that allow this setting either.
If there no other way then I will remove the application package and
re-install when I

Nux VLC gives CLI only on CentOS-6.x
I thought this was just because of various unwise repo mixing that I'd done
on my main home server-cum-workstation, but I've been able to duplicate it
on a fresh VirtualBox installation.
I install the nux repo vlc-core and vlc-extras. I then try to start it
from a command line. I get

UL/LI List helpers, or not?
Hello,
I have a (bad) habit of abstracting nearly all my code. The DRY idea
helps a lot.
What I want is a simple helper to build UL LI lists:
def unordered_list_tag(items => [], options => {})
if :items.count > 0
render :partial => ''application/unordered_list'', :locals => {
items => :items, options => :options }
end
end
And a simple

i promise this will be my last question for the day.
still playing with autocompleter, everything is working ok, but i''m
having difficulties accessing just the href attribute of <a> element,
which is a child of <li> in the autocomplete response, i.e:

sortable_element not recognizing newly added <li> elements
I have a user defined list of items. Using the sortable_element
function, I can manipulate the ordering of this list fine by dragging
each component around.
When I dynamically add another <li> item to this list, the newly added
item is _not_ "draggable" like its other siblings.
Using the sortable_element function, how do I make it aware of newly
added list items? Here is my
