Winbind-Problem Samba 3.2.8 on AIX 5.3.9
Hi everyone, On a newly installed AIX-LPAR (oslevel 5.3.9) we added the current samba version 3.2.8. Installation and configuration did not reveal any problem. The problems show about 5 Minutes after services startup. After starting the samba services the winbind daemon uses lots of CPU time and memory. Wbinfo -u and wbinfo -g work after initial startup. We cannot connect to any share on the

Authentication problem with samba 3.3.4 on AIX 5.3
Hello all, we currently do have a problem with samba 3.3.4 on AIX 5.3. We have set up the samba system to integrate in our AD Domain. Integration was successfull (net ads join), wbinfo executes with parameters -ugt without any problems. Our smb.conf content follows at the end of this mail. We have defined just one share as follows: [smbtest] writeable = yes path = /gpfs/fbb/ls/cip valid users

Share access problem from 3.4.0
Hi all, we have a public share for all of our users. The share definition is as follows: [public] comment = browseable = yes writeable = yes path = /gpfs/fbb/apps/public force group = @BUILTIN+Users valid users = @BUILTIN+Users write list = @BUILTIN+Users All of our data resides on a GPFS file system. The share is defined and accessed on a AIX 5.3.10 node with samba 3.0.26a. Here users do not

Win2003 ADS, wbinfo -u and -g almost works
I've been chasing this problem for several days. I have taken the 3.0.26a Fedora 7 SRPM from the Samba FTP site and rebuilt it on RedHat EL5 and installed it. It runs, but it has exactly the same problem as the original 3.0.23c version. I can join the domain and 'wbinfo -t' returns OK. However, 'wbinfo -g' returns only two groups then gives a failure message and

wbinfo works fine, getent only works for builtin groups
Hi I am having a lot of trouble getting users from a trusted domain to access shares and files. getent passwd / get group doesn't retrieve domain users or groups, so I can't set permissions for the users or groups from the trusted domain The domain having problems is: Ubuntu 6.06 Server Samba Version 3.0.22 The trusted domain is: Ubuntu 8.04 Server Samba Version 3.0.28a wbinfo -u and

nss_windbind.so can't see groups that wbinfo -g can (4.0.9 as AD DC)
[I'm afraid $customer made me anonymize their rootdn, user and group names, so the ones below are made up. Hopefully I haven't introduced any errors in the process.] I'm running Debian 7 with samba 4.0.9dfsg1-1 built from git://git.debian.org/pkg-samba/samba. I'm using samba as an AD DC, with accounts migrated from a samba3/slapd stack using samba-tool domain classicupgrade.

Wbinfo -Y couldn't work with idmap_rid for BUILTIN groups
Hi, wbinfo -Y BUILTIN\group can work without idmap_rid in Samba-3.0.14a. But I'm experiencing wbinfo -Y with idmap_rid failed for SID to GID conversion of BUILTIN groups. Since idmap_rid only works in a single domain, and captures workgroup's domain sid as a real domain sid in rid_idmap_get_domains(), when running "wbinfo -Y BUILTIN/System Operators", the function

wbinfo -u and -g work, getent passwd works, getent group DOES NOT WORK
Hi, I'm trying to get some Ubuntu8.04 clients to authenticate to an Ubuntu8.04 Samba domain controller. Everyone is running Samba 3.0.28a. Side question: should I upgrade to 3.2? Keep in mind that means finding binaries for ubuntu or compiling from source for a server and 20 clients. Basically wbinfo -u and -g work, getent passwd works, getent group DOES NOT WORK. My domain is called

wbinfo -u - do I need to worry?
Hi all, Will keep this brief :-) Just trying to clear some things up regarding winbind. wbinfo -u returns "Error looking up domain users". I'm only using winbind for ntlm_auth which works fine. I'm not using AD or any Windows server-based domain. Samba only. There don't seem to be any obvious errors in the winbind log. Do I need to worry about that error? Should it

wbinfo -u and -g work, wbinfo -s works only for some users
Got a problem after upgrading Samba from 3.0 to 3.5 - have a bunch of users and groups in LDAP and things work for the most part. However, when people try to change permissions from within Windows, some usernames or groupnames are shown properly, but other are not - they see the SID. Following up I noticed, that I can get a list of all users with 'wbinfo -u' and that I can get a SID for
