Win98 client can't connect after Samba upgrade
Hi All, I was running Samba 2.2 as a PDC for a small office server for several years. Hardware was getting old enough I finally bit the bullet and upgraded to Samba 3.3.4 on FreeBSD 7.2 and a new box. The smbpasswd file and all that stuff was copied from the old box. Clients are Win2000 and XP Professional, and for the most part were back up and connected, practically unaware of the switch

a simple suggestion for the next version of R windows
Is it possible to replace the word "R Console" on the title bar (is it what it's called? It's the blue area above menu bar) with the name of the work space file you're using or loaded, so people who are runing multple R sessions at same time can identify them immediately. I'm using 1.9.0 in SDI mode. Thanks, ...Tao

Possible FAQ: IAX2 -> SIP with G729 and no licence
Assuming I've got a setup where calls entering Asterisk on SIP leave on IAX2 ( and the reverse), i.e. a SIP user might dial '1234' where we then have extern => 1234,1,Dial(IAX2/somewhereelse) Now, we don't have any G.729 functionality on this server, so what happens if the SIP user calls with G.729 only available? Assuming the remote IAX2 server does have G.729 can it be

PJSIP redirect_method=uri_core and header modifications
With chan_sip there is the variable SIP_MAX_FORWARDS to set Max-Forwards. This counter is persistant after a redirect. I can't find the equivalent for PJSIP, so I went the way of header manipulation. Only to find out that any headers added to the outbound leg are lost after a redirect (with redirect_method=uri_core (didn't try any other since in the past they didn't work for me)). Am

DM and ''offline'' PAM (and NSS?)...
I'm using samba 4.5 on a debian jessie (Louis packages). Rarely it happen that a power outgage tear down all the stuff, here. I've noticed that if the DM start before the DC, clearly all account data are inaccessible. To prevent or minimize that, the ''offline mode'' of winbind can be safely used also on DM servers? Roaming profiles with Samba3
Good morning everyone. I wanted to ask the people on this list who are currently using roaming profiles with samba 3 how it is working? I worked a little with roaming profiles with 2.2.8a, but it was not working as well as I wanted it to and im hoping that samba 3 roaming profiles are working pretty well. Our network here is really calling for roaming profiles to be a major option here. Our
