samba-ldap
Well, I am still having problems with my samba server. For some reason,
I cannot add all of the users in. I am running a batch useradd program.
I can get about 450 or so added in, then it gives me an error that the
user does not exist when I go to add the last 60 or so.
My batch program actually reads in the users name and then does
something like:
/opt/IDEALX/sbin/smbldap-useradd -a -u

Since both of your servers are running dovecot it would be probably better

dsync connection issue
I'm trying to move from my exising server to a new site. In preparation
for this I've set up the new server as per the first attachment.
I've added additional (temporary) setting to the new site as per these
instructions
https://wiki2.dovecot.org/Migration/Dsync
but when I try to do a backup with the following command from the old to
the new site
sudo doveadm -D -o

apache httpd, webdav, ssl - something is wrong, but what?
Hi,
happy new year!
Today I set up a new web(dav) server for our .ical-System (phpIcalendar)
and copied the config and data files from the old server.
But somthing is wrong with the configuration and I'm blind to find the
error.
On the old server, I can still publish my calender from e.g. Apple iCal
at the server URL with http

DFS question
Was wondering if someone could tell me if this is correct. I want to
set up some DFS shares. I have 3 servers with SAMBA/LDAP on them. My
first is basically my PDC and the other two are my BDCs. I assume that
I will have to set all of this up on each server, so that no matter
which server catches the logon, the logon script will get run. Also, if
one of the servers was to go down for a

A totally different approach (that is imap-server agnostic), providing
that you're setting up those new accounts with temporary passwords
(which you know), before users change their passwords to their liking:
you could also use imapsync ( https://github.com/imapsync/imapsync) . We
here use it with a batch file and a text file containing all accounts to
do mass-migrations, usually at

Thanks!
That was a really useful answer.

rsync directories that match a string
Hi,
I am trying to rsync the "new" folder for all my mail users from the old
server to the new server we have.
Basically I want to copy all files from
oldserver/home/$USERS/Maildir/new to newserver/home/$USERS/Maildir/new
where the $USERS represents all the user's home folders.
this is what I have tried but its not working:
rsync --dry-run -vaxuHS \

Samba 2.28a and NT ACL
I have samba 2.2.8a compiled with option --with-acl-support --with-pam --
with-winbind on solaris8.
My problem is:
- when I copy the data from old nt server to new samba server with this
command xcopy oldserver newserver /O/S I received for some files
Access Denied. I have add on the smb file force unknown acl user = yes
but I have problem.
This is my smb.conf.

Re: Moving samba PDC to new machine (unable to change domain SID)
So, I followed these directions and got errors in log.nmbd regarding
"domain_master_node_status_fail". There were still entries for the old
server's ip address in connections.tdb, gencache.tdb, locking.tdb and
sessionid.tdb, so I stopped samba, deleted them and restarted. All was
well.
I then changed the SID using "net setlocalsid

Replacing a Samba server
I am setting up a new samba server that is going to replace my old one.
Here is the question that I have. Am I going to have to go around to each
computer on campus and have it rejoin the domain when I put the new server
in place?
If that is the case, can I set the SID on the new samba server to be the
same as the old samba server and will that do the trick so that I do have
to go around to

New samba server
I did not get this finished last summer, so decided to just wait and do it
this summer. I have setup my new samba server and was trying to get some
things tweaked to the way that I want them. I thought that I had asked
this before and that I could do it, but it seems that it does not work.
My new server is running as a domain server just like the old. It has the
same domain name and I change

Computers leaving samba domain
I am not sure if this is where I need to ask this or not, but I am lost to
where to start even.
I had 7 computers in one lab that would not login. It gave the standard
"computer account password bad or domain not found". I had another 9
computer in my other lab do the same thing. It seems that they have
suddenly started losing the domain. I can add them to a workgroup and

ldap? Samba? Nss?
It seems my logins are taking a long time to get logged in. I am guessing
that it is worse when classes start and a lot of the kids try to login at
once. My old server did not seem to have this problem though and we have
the same number of students.
Where should I start looking at this? I am guessing that it is ldap, but
want to make sure.
If I log in at a computer and go to start->run and

Samba and LDAP install on FreeBSD
Here is my problem. I installed the OpenLdap 2.4.10 server and SASL
client. I then went to install the Samba 3.0.30 Port and it tells me that
it needs to install OpenLDAP client 2.3.42, but the 2.4.10 is in the same
place and I need to deinstall it. I deinstall 2.4.10 and samba will
install, but now openldap will not run because it has missing files. I
went to reinstall the 2.4.10 SASL client,
