Sernet repository
Hi All, If you've using yum and have added ftp.sernet...... to your yum.repos.d the paths have changed. The documentation on the Samba site is no longer accurate,I'm hoping someone will update this once I mention it? SerNet Samba Updates
Thanks to all at SerNet for the timely updates to your Samba packages! Your CentOS rpms do not automatically restart Samba after an update, so "yum update" must be followed by "service smb restart". Is this a deliberate design? Most RHEL/Fedora daemon packages include a "service x condrestart" in the postinstall script, so that yum updates can be completely

4.1.11/DebianWheezyBackports vs. 4.1.12/Sernet
Hi all, I wonder if there are any pro/cons between using Samba4 of Debian's official Wheezy-backports repository which actually is version 4.1.11 -or- using Samba4 of Sernet's official repository which actually is on version 4.1.12 I understand that Sernet's package at that moment is more recent, but recently I had an issue which was Debian/Samba4 related and unfortunately I made

SerNet package spool directory
Hi Volker, It would be useful if your 3.3.9 build (currently in recent) included the /var/spool/samba directory - it just took me a while to figure out why Samba printing wasn't working on a new EL5 server ;-) Moray. "To err is human.? To purr, feline"

Bug in sernet RPM's postun?
Hi, I was just wondering whether this possible bug with the Sernet Samba3 RPMs for CentOS 5 is known, since it has not yet been fixed. When uninstalling the Sernet RPMs for Samba3 (in this case Samba 3.2.x) the %postun scriptlet fails every time with: # rpm -e samba3-3.2.0-36 /var/tmp/rpm-tmp.56356: line 2: fg: no job control error: %postun(samba3-3.2.0-36.x86_64) scriptlet failed, exit status

SerNet has created an open source Samba4 appliance for early testing
Dear samba and samba-technical lists, The Samba Team is working towards getting a Version 4.0 released. In oder to ease testing of the Active Directory features of Samba4, even for people who don't want to download and compile the source code, SerNet (http://www.sernet.de/) has created a software appliance based on current Samba master snapshots. The major purpose of this is to make it very

file context menu takes for ever with 3.0.6, both sernet and suse
I've tested SerNet's ans SuSE's versions of Samba 3.0.6 on a test member server. Joining domain, attaching share all works but if I right-click a file, the context menu takes for ever to pop up. If I select Properties, it takes even longer until the dialog box appears. Right-clicking a directory pops up the context menu without delay and the Properties dialog box also comes fast, but
