Configuration of idmap_ldap "No backend defined"
Hi list, I can't make idmap talk to my LDAP server. And I haven't found an updated howto. Ldapsam Editposix & idmap help required
Hi, I am more or less following this tutorial Ldapsam Editposix = http://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Ldapsam_Editposix but can't quite get my domain to work. I think the issue is with the idmap part of the smb.conf but can't quite figure out what's wrong with it or what the correct format should be. My SMB.CONF file.... #interfaces = lo0 em0 127.0.0.1 bind interfaces only = no

Samba 3.4.2 Winbind problem IDMAP GID range full
Hello all, after migration from 3.0.26a to 3.4.2 we get lots of the following messages in our winbind-idmap logfile. Has anybody seen this before? Winbind uselessly using up Idmap range in ldap
Hi, We have just managed to get winbind behaving correctly in a Samba domain with Samba member servers with help from Sernet. It is now not adding spurious entries for the "own domain". However, a member server keeps trying to add group mappings that already exist in the LDAP idmap ou. This would not be a problem, apart from the fact that every time it fails adding an entry, the

Problem with Samba-3.0.25rc3 & idmap_ldap (winbind dumps core)
In an effort to improve my lot, I'm trying to move to a ldap backend for idmap synchronization when I deploy the new 3.0.25 version on my systems. In preparation for this, I've set up some test systems -- where I'm having some problems that I think others may be encountering (according to a few comments I've seen recently). In a nutshell, I believe I have set up my ldap

Winbind to use Windows ADS LDAP as IDMAP backend
Greetings list, This sounds sort of twisted but in its essence Windows ADS has an LDAP server too, so here is what I do hoping it'll work: 1. Install Utilities and SDK for UNIX-based application and Identity Management for UNIX on Windows server 2003, create a new OU named "idmap". 2. Configure smb.conf as per Samba HOWTO chapter 14 "IDMAP storage in LDAP using winbind"

"Idmap module nss already registered" ???
Hello, we are running samba 3.3.8 on RHEL 5.5 - connected to Active Directory via winbind. Everything seems to work fine: matching of UID/GID is working which can be tested with ... wbinfo -i <username> wbinfo -n <username> wbinfo -s SID ... BUT it takes about 1 min until a connection to the samba server can be established or until the available samba shares are listed: net use x:

AD authentication with separate LDAP authorization
Hi all, SHORT VERSION How can I configure Samba 4.8.0 serving users on Windows 7 clients to authenticate using their domain login credentials (winbindd and Active Directory) but be authorized (i.e. perform user/group lookup) against a separate OpenLDAP server? This was easy in previous versions of Samba with the fallback mechanism

PAM authentication with winbind and AD
All, After two days of googling, reading, swearing and cursing, I am finally admitting I cannot solve this one. I have three production FreeBSD servers running various network utilities (DHCP, bacula, zabix, syslog, rsync). These have been running fine for several years. As a primary Windows domain (accounting firm. Not much choice), I like to centralize all logins into AD which is currently

Winbind crashes in 3.026a using rid
Winbind 3.026a crashes when reading out user information with wbinfo using the idmap/rid module. The tdb module works without crash (tested by exchanging the uncommented and commented lines in the following fragment from smb.conf). I configured rid as follows: [global] # idmap uid=1000-60000 # idmap gid=1000-60000 idmap domains=TRUSTEDDOMAINS idmap config TRUSTEDDOMAINS:readonly=yes idmap

Trouble with idmap_ldap in 3.3.6
Hello everyone, We've been running Samba for years, and with the exception of IDMAP, we've been very happy. Well, now we have a real need to keep this information in a shared DB, so I'm trying to set up the idmap_ldap plugin. I *think* I have lookups working correctly-- at least, I can see that Samba is contacting the LDAP directory. But since there's nothing actually

samba server in Microsoft Domain, many errors in logs
hi all, i'm not expert with Samba integration into domain. I did setup many servers acting with local auth that were running very fine. We've a Windows 2008 acting as Domain controller. So to not create more login/password to users, i decided to authenticate using Active Directory. The shares work, but sometimes users failed to access. The server is running Debian stable Lennny. The

PANIC: Could not fetch our SID - did we join?
Hi, I have some problems running Samba and Winbind 3.0.22 in a AD, kerberos environment. I have seen previous posts on several forums about this problem but haven't found any solution for it yet. I have no problem with the default Samba package that comes with Ubuntu, 3.0.14a. But I do wan't to upgrade and the only option in that case seems to be to compile it. I compiled it with
