Samba 3RC4 printing issues
Hi Couple of printing issues that I can't get around. Probably relevant conf sections at bottom. Minor one first: In the Add Printer Wizard (the place most users look first), the Samba print server is not listed. Manually typing the \\server\printer works fine, but this is "difficult" for users adding printers on the fly. Adding the printer from \\server\printers works fine too,

Files monitoring through Samba
I am trying to setup a way to watch each file that is created, updated, and deleted through samba. I have currently looked at inotify but I am not sure if that is the best way. What suggestions would you have to setup a way to get some type of event when one of these actions occur? I would like to watch a directory recursively and be able to run a shell script or perl script and that script know

Cleartext pre-authentication before going to secure mode.
Hi This is a feature request. 1) Make sshd to ignore garbage that may appear before ssh identification string is received. Such "garbage" may be for example telnet negotiation codes. This should be pretty easy task. 2) Make ssh to work in cleartext mode (and have minimum telnet negotiation handling) before it receives ssh identification string. This requires somewhat

How to configure samba domain member to use LDAPS instead of LDAP
My customer complain that in the AD DC they see the following insecure communication coming from the Samba server (DC member): "The following client performed a SASL (Negotiate/Kerberos/NTLM/Digest) LDAP bind without requesting signing (integrity verification), or performed a simple bind over a cleartext (non-SSL/TLS-encrypted) LDAP connection." So Samba does an insecure LDAP bind and

The DC is a Windows AD DC. Could you please clarify why i should change setting in the Windows DC instead of the Samba server, which is the one that does the insecure ldap bind? no Xen packages for i386
Hi there, I just saw this morning after mistakenly installing the -amd64 packages on a 32bit machine, that the i386 packages had disappeared from debian from jessie onwards. I was wondering about the reason for this disappearance. Is it because upstream cut off support for 32 bit systems? I scratched really fast on the bug reports and couldn't see one that talked about this. -- Gabriel

samba pdc/roving profiles/encrypted passwords
It is my understanding that roving profiles cannot be implemented without using encrypted passwords. It is also my understanding that encrypted passwords cannot be implemented without pointing smb.conf to a windows password server. I'm trying to set up a samba server on a Linux (RedHat 7.3) to act as a PDC and a provider for roving profiles - when I do things with cleartext (encryption

fixed and random effects in lme
Hi All, I would like to ask a question on fixed and random effecti in lme. I am fiddlying around Mick Crawley dataset "rats" : http://www.bio.ic.ac.uk/research/mjcraw/statcomp/data/ The advantage is that most work is already done in Crawley's book (page 361 onwards) so I can check what I am doing. I am tryg to reproduce the nested analysis on page 368:
