interaction terms in regression analysis
G'day, My problem is I'm not sure how to extract effect sizes from a nonlinear regression model with a significant interaction term. My data sets are multiple measurements of force response to an agonist with two superimposed treatments each having two levels. This is very similar to the Ludbrook example in Venables and Ripley. The experiment is that a muscle is exposed to an agonist

An even more strange win95 browsing problem
Hi, I posted a few messages a couple of days ago about a strange windows 95 browsing problem with samba-2.0.2, 1.9.17p4 that none of our Windows 95 users can see our Linux shares, but all NT users can see the Linux shares, and all 95 and NT users can see AIX shares. All of our Linux and AIX use the save version of samba (I tested 2.0.2 and 1.9.17p4). Yesterday, I tried to down grade the version

Adding TrippLite SMART550 / Protocol 2001 Support
I have added preliminary support for the TrippLite protocol number 2001 into tripplite_usb.c. The attached file is supplied as a patch against today's SVN. This patch adds support for TrippLite SMART550USB and some Omni models. Tested are On Line, On Battery, Battery Good, and Battery Bad indication. Everything else seems to work, but this UPS is attached to a critical system, and I can

Simple Stacking of Two Columns
Hi, You were on the right track using stack(), but you just pass the entire data frame as a single object, not the separate columns: > stack(NamesWide) ? values ? ind 1 ? ?Tom Name1 2 ? Dick Name1 3 ?Larry Name2 4 ?Curly Name2 Note that stack also returns the index (second column of 'ind' values), which tells you which column in the source data frame the stacked values originated

issue accessing help files
Dear R-help community, I am unable to access help files when using the typical "?function.of.interest" command. For example, if I type "?anova", Internet Explorer opens, but I am never connected to the usual page describing the nuances of the anova function. This is a new problem (just started occurring a few days ago). I am currently using R 2.14.1 on a Windows XP machine.

remove columns containing all zeros (or other value)
Hello- I would like to remove the columns of a matrix that contain all zeros. For example, from x<-matrix(c(1,5,3,2,1,4,0,0,0), ncol=3,nrow=3) I would like to remove the third column. However, because this is in a loop I need a way to first determine which columns are all zeros, and only then remove them. I.e., I don't know which column of x contains all zeros until after x is

Interpret List Label as Date from Quantmod getOptionChain
Package? Quantmod. In the subject line. I agree that they look like dates, I don't know how to determine if they are actually dates. Josh Ulrich usually answers questions along these lines very informatively and quickly. One reasonable course of action is to wait to see if he does the same with this one. --JJS ________________________________ From: Bert Gunter <bgunter.4567 at

Lattice book
Dear all, I haven't seen this mentioned and presumably Dr. Deepayan Sarkar is too polite to advertise! Rescaling a column in a matrix based on a certain rows
Hi, Let say I have this matrix: > mat<-matrix(cbind(rnorm(20),rnorm(20)), ncol = 2) And I want to rescale values of column [,1] and [,2] using values from row 1 to 5, such that the values of row 1:5 should be rescale to the same amplitude (kinda like take the z-score of population from row 1:5). column 1 and 2 are two different samples need to be compared. I hope I made myself clear

Lattice plotting question
Hi all, I'm working on some plots using lattice (R 2.10.1), and have entered the polish phase. I've produced a satisfactory pair of xyplots ( http://imgur.com/EyXGi.png), but would like to align the y-axes of the top and bottom plots. I assume that I need to adjust axis padding or something, but I can't figure this one out. Thanks for any help! Dave -- Post-doctoral Fellow
