3.5.1 64 bit windows printing is working a bit
Hi,
although I don't expect any answers (like most of the times) , here is my
experience so far:
I run a samba printserver for +3.000 hosts and 600 printers with a correct
setup successfully. So be sure, everything is plugged in, I tried to turn
it off and on again, I RTFM'ed and so on.
Here is my most successfull attempt to get the printservice going on 3.5.1
and windows 7 46 bit

Printing options for a network printer
I'm using Wine 1.3.3. with Ubuntu 10.04.
In Ubuntu there is a network printer installed with a Linux printer driver for Konica Minolta Bizhub C203. The printer works perfect. If I print from OpenOffice (Linux-Version), I can choose different options, may be which printer-slot (A4, A3) colour or black, the print quality - same options like a printer installed in WINXP - but that's in

Samba, AD and devices compatibility...
I'm trying to test/move some of my LDAP-enabled devices from my actual
OpenLDAP server(s) to my new samba AD domain.
For now, i'm poking with printers, and i'm testing a Konica-Minolta
BizHub C224e.
Defining user autentication to external source, i can set (between
LDAP, NTLM, NDS, ...) 'Active Directory', and i can/must provide the
domain naime.
After that, DNS and kerberos

Samba Printing api_rpcTNP: \spoolss: SPOOLSS_OPENPRINTEREX failed
Hello,
after upgrading to samba 3.5.6 of Debian Squeeze some printouts will not printed. The same prinjob will printed after a couple of tries. I increased the loglevel and there are only a few messages which showing whtat could be the problem. The printjobs doesn't arrive at cups.

SASL over plain LDAP (no SSL nor TLS).

cheep laser printer recomendations
Hi!
I would like to hear what printers go good w/our operating system.
While back, I should have checked w/y'all like I'm doing now but I just
went ahead and bought a Konica-Minolta PagePro 1350W. Now that W at the
end of 1350 is a huge word that means WINDOWS! grrrr! It's a great
printer 21pgs/min etc but it doesn't like linux at all and their tech
spt will tell you as much. I

Color Laser Printer, comments!
I am considering purchasing a color laser printer for my network and
would appreciate some feedback.
I have looked at the following:
Konica/Minolta 2430DL
HP 2600N
Can anyone tell me how well they work and are supported by cups as a
network laser printing solution?
TIA
John

Online backup with dovecot
Hi!
Do you guys/girls (whichever you prefer) know if it's possible (i.e. in
some semitransparent/easy way) to incorporate an online backup system?
If the mail is older than a set amount of days it gets compressed.
I want my mail storage size to shrink but on the other hand I want to
keep the mails I get and have them easily readable :)
I'm thinking of symlinks and some kind of gzip

Konica Printer: Scan to File (Samba SMB share) fails
I am trying to let a Konica-Minolta Copy-Scanner-Printer store scanned stuff
to a file.
It works at once, if I let it send the file to a SMB share provided by a W2K
workstation that is part of a (Samba) domain.
It doesn't work, if I want it to store the messages on a share provided by the
Samba server.
So far I have verified that the user the scanner runs under is allowed to
mount the share

Can't Print from Wine
Hi,
I have Wine 0.9.29 installed on a computer running Ubuntu 6.10. When I
try to print from any application, nothing happens. The printer that I
am trying to print to is a Konica Minolta PagePro 1300W, which is
connected to a computer running Windows XP Pro. I can print to it fine
from any linux applications, but when I want to print something from an
application running under wine, it will not

Samba4 bug - "mount error(5): Input/output error"
Hi Rowland,
do you maybe have any idea what could potentially cause this bug?
smbclient thrwos me back a
mount error(5): Input/output error
when I try to mount the remote smbFS. It doesn't happen with my MacOSx
and Windows 7 as client but it happens with Linux OSs and with a Konica
Minolta copy machine with a scanner to samba function. The first try to
mount fails with the above error.

2x Samba4 Bugs - "mount error(5): Input/output error" & "recycle: stat for ... AFP_AfpInfo returned No such file or directory"
Hi
I'm using Samba version 4.1.7 on the server side. On the Client side is
multiple versions
- a copy machine Konica Minolta
- Windows XP
- Windows 7
- Mac OSx (Mavericks)
- CentOS (XenServer)
all of them get sporadic input output errors. E.g: on a Linux I would get a
mount error(5): Input/output error
after the first try. And as funny as it sounds, but the second try is a
success and

Adding a cups printer driver
Hello,
I have desperately tried to make samba able to share the printer with a
Win98SE client. First I tried cupsaddsmb, but that failed.
Then I walked step by step through the installation manually as explained in
the documentation, and everything stopped on this point:
rpcclient -Uroot%xxxx -c 'adddriver "Windows NT x86"\

Annonymous access guest ok = yes
I am trying to get some printer shares to be anonymous access.
I have set guest ok = yes
but from the log file, it looks like if a username is passed, and a failed
lookup, it wont just default to annonymous. Is there another setting or
configuration that I need to add to get it to work?
