smbd panic due to negative exclusive oplock count
Hi, I'm facing an issue with at least two Samba servers in production both showing important number of log entries like: smbd[27355]: PANIC: assert failed at smbd/oplock.c(149): exclusive_oplocks_open>=0 Looking at the source code, this panic is triggered when the number of exclusive oplocks for a given file becomes negative. Once triggered for one smbd process, this process can

Confusion berween file and direcory
I have some trouble with a samba 3.5.8 server when setting directory attributes. On a windows XP I execute a small peace of code that calls 'SetFileAttributes' for the directory 'test-dir' located on the samba server. Using log level 10 I find this: [2011/05/26 15:27:02.144060, 3] smbd/process.c:1298 (switch_message) switch message SMBtrans2 (pid 28903) conn 0x7f5e35f0dbb0

Open file error....samba 3.0.28a
When I try to open a specific file from a samba share (LSP), the application (on WINXP) says that it could not open the file. The errors pasted below (from the smb client) show something different from anything I've seen before. Usually these kinds of problems are straight forward. In other words, usually this is a permission issue. In this case, it is not. I am trying to open a file

Users can create, but not delete files.
I have an ubuntu 8.10 server that is authenticating against active directory (Win2k3) and acting as a fileserver. I used likewise open to setup the AD authentication. If a user creates a file in a directory that he doesn't own, he can modify the contents of the file, but not delete or rename it. The group permissions should allow the user to do this. If the user owns the directory,

Errors in parse_share_modes Testing CTDB 2.3 and Samba 4.0.7
I'm working on building a CTDB/Samba cluster on AIX 7.1 with the latest levels to replace an older one running CTDB 1.0.113 and Samba 3.6.1. I have the new servers up and running and they seem to work, but I'm worried about some messages in the logs. I run with log level 1 on the servers so that the connection details are logged. On the old cluster there were only connection/closed

msdfs problems
I have setup samba with msdfs, and configured it. The problem is that it works with some windows 2000 workstations, but not with others, even if they are at the same service pak levels. I.e, I have workstation a and workstation b, both running 2000. On workstation a, I can map the dfs share to a drive, and be able to access everything in that share (which is different shares on different

msdfs root -- client error "refers to a location that is unavailable"
I'm trying to get Samba 3.0.28 to work as an MS Dfs root providing a share that links home directories to the actual servers they reside on. Unfortunately, when I access the share from a Windows XP client, and try to open one of the directories, the client gives an error that it "refers to a location that is unavailable". I've done a lot of searching, and found a number of

smbcontrol xxxx reload-config doesn't work and other details samba 3.2
Hi Samba team. I installed on a new server samba 3.2.0. And all work fine, except the reload-config command and other things. For resolve some missed-configuration, I modify the smb.conf and call smbcontrol <smbd_pid> reload-config, but it's not work. Ex : I added mdfs root = yes (same as samba 3.0.x), after I called smbcontrol xxxx reload-config [2008/07/28 00:17:34, 3]
