Authentication status: users CAN login using LDAP using ssh.
Additionally, I have kerberos setup and users can get kerberos tokens

Hello everyone.
I joined this list because I cannot find an answer to my problem. The

Samba 3.0.21b is not able to connect to password server
On our AIX 5.2 system we have Samba 3.0.4 and 3.0.21b. The smb.conf files
are identical for both versions. The 3.0.4 version runs fine, but with
3.0.21b, we get errors like the following when trying to run smbclient:

Good afternoon.
I cannot seem to get my test samba (domain member) server to use a
windows 2003 PDC, SJMEMDC40. Are there any outstanding issues with a
win2003 PDC and a samba domain member server?
Her are my errors:

Unable to authenticate to samba.
I have a samba server running 3.0.4 on a true 64 unix, the problem I
have with this is that sometimes some users can't log-on, so I decided
to upgrade to the new version.I have configed it so that their windows
login is used to authenticate them, all users have accounts on the unix
but the passwords differ. I never changed the config file, but I keep
getting these messages:

Cannot join domain
Hi,
Samba V 3.0.25 on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5
PDC: NT 4 Domain.
Server security = domain.
I have a server (possibly 2) that cannot join the domain. I have
tried from the linux server with 'net rpc join' and from the NT Box's
Server Manager but it fails. The server appears in Server Manager
although you can not get any additional info about it.

0 length domain name & SCHANNEL can't be used to fetch trust account password?
I have a few errors I'm trying to chase down in an effort to get a
Win7 client in my domain. WinXP works -- tested unjoining and
rejoining today, and it can still join.
I have the registry adds for DNSNameResolutionRequired=0 under
LanmanServer&Client/Params (put it in both places in attempt to get
things working), as well as a DomainCompatibilityMode=1
I've tried moving to winbind

Strange problem with Samba as AD member
Dear all,
I've a real strange problem with one of my Samba-servers. Most of the time a lot of users get the message
about "trust relationship failure" when trying to access the share on this server. Below you find part of a log
where the user can access the share and a few seconds later it's no longer possible. "net ads testjoin" shows
that join of the samba-server

Samba 3.5.9 with Windows 2008 R2
Hi All,
We're going to upgrade our DCs to Windows 2008 R2 native mode soon, so we're facing with the challenge that how to get our samba servers (Solaris 8 & Solaris 10) work with Windows 2008 R2 native mode. I've compiled Samba 3.5.9 with AD support. Then I installed and configured the binaries on my 3 test machines (one Solaris 8 and two Solaris 10). The strange problem is one

Samba 3 Trust Relationship with Win2008 AD problem
I am trying to establish 2 way trust relationship between samba domain and
Win2008 AD domain. The trust relationship is established and even verified
by both side, but when I try to access samba resources from win2008 domain,
it prompts for username and password. However, I can access the win2008
resources from the samba domain without the prompting of username and
password.

Migrating samba domain to new computer.
Should have read this first:
http://samba.org/samba/docs/man/Samba-Guide/upgrades.html#id2600749
Problem is I did it the wrong way on a few production systems.
Odds are this is the second time I did it wrong.
Running Debian Lenny using smbldap.
It mostly works.
Existing members of the domain are working OK.
The first thing that got my attention is was not able to join a new xp

pdbedit will only add users to the local machine domain, not the global domain
Hello all,
When I try to add a user to my secrets.tdb file on my Samba 3.2.0 PDC, the
users are always added under the local machine domain, not the global domain.
That is, if my PDC machine name is srv1, and it is PDC for the domain DOM1,
then whenever I add a user using "pdbedit -a -u username", then that user
gets placed under the local domain SRV1, not the global domain DOM1. So my
