Having problems with Samba and openLDAP Groups
I'm getting a little closer and understanding how the logs, etc work. I can log onto a Samba share, can read and write to my home directory, but I'm concerned about trying to get the file share Staff to work - want it to be read and write to the Group named Staff. I have set up the group and added myself to the group If I do a smbldap-groupshow Staff - I get sudo smbldap-groupshow

Best way to setup Samba + OpenLDAP + Linux to use a different partition for /home?
Thanks in advance! I can't believe the level of service / help I've gotten from this group. Anyway, I have a Samba server acting as a PDC on a network. The server has a small OS drive and one very large RAID array for data / files. Right now, I have Ubuntu 8.04 installed and Samba is using openLDAP for authentication. The person who will add new users is not very technical and needs a

Problem with reboot of machine with openLDAP
I'm having a problem with the reboot of a machine. I can get a list of the shares by running smbclient -L BGCFC but if I reboot, I get smbclient -L BGCFC Error connecting to 192.168.10.100 (Connection refused) Connection to BGCFC failed (Error NT_STATUS_CONNECTION_REFUSED) but if I restart slapd it works correctly again. What could be wrong? Thanks -- Matt Burkhardt, M.Sci. Technology

Does this tell me anything? Traffic report
I'm trying to get Samba up and running and having a terrible time. It says that I should be able to run nmap and see that 137 and 139 are open - which they are not. I have not added any restrictions in smb.conf, do not have a firewall running and I have increased the log level to 5 to see all of the messages. It says that it is talking on 137 but it kind of looks like it's not talking

I am so frustrated - Samba ports not opening and no error message
Okay - I've been plugging away and it got to the point that running smbclient was returning information about an Alfresco install that I never used, so I went ahead and deleted everything I could find on my machine that said "alfresco". I then removed samba using apt-get from the machine by typing apt-get remove --purge samba I deleted the /etc/samba directory and re-installed

Parsing XML file with no style info with Hpricot
Hello, I''ve been trying for hours to parse an XML using Hpricot. Usually it''s not a problem. Here''s my simple code: #This works and outputs the proper xml data @url1 = ''http://www.sportingnews.com/stories/sportingnews/MLB/rss.xml'' @page1 = Hpricot(open(@url1)) <%= @page 1 %> #This does not work, and I''m scratching my head @url1 =

How do you create a tree strucutre with ActiveRecord
I want to build an application that has the concept of administrative domains. What I mean by this is that administrators have access to different data, based on what domains they are a member of. The domain strucutre is hierarchical. Here is an example: - MLB - AL - East - Yankees - Red Sox ... + Central + West - NL + East + Central + West Now

[LLVMdev] Clang removes Label name
Hi, I have some troubles to figure out why clang is removing my label name. As the simple example below shows the label "MLB" is removed and replaced by an integer as an "unnamed value". Plus, I can see that an unconditional jump is added, as the label seems to be interpreted as the beginning of a BasicBlock. I am compiling without any optimizations (for now), what leave the

index matter
Hi, I have a question about the following explanation; IndexFiles.txt ------------------------------------------------------ If index files are missing, Dovecot creates them automatically when the mailbox is opened. ------------------------------------------------------ Are they made based on which information? most common way to implement 'net time' privileges
Hello samba, I would like to ask about what is the most common and less effort way to let users change time without admin privileges on windows workstations. To be exact I'm trying to find out the quick and dirty way to sync time between win workstations (xp and vista) and PDC Samba 3.3.2. I do use net logon scripts and it is failing on net time \\pdc-server /set /yes command because of

net vampire and WIn2003 AD
Hello Samba People, it is my first letter to Samba ML, so first of all - thanks Samba team for a great SW. Now the question: I want to migrate from Win2003 AD to Samba 3.3.2. I want to use net vampire feature to import all account information (is there any other way to do it?). Net vampire works partly - in the direct meaning of this word - it is importing only 131 objects. How come? Full

how to clear winbind cache
Hello all, I'd like to know how to clear winbind cache. The problem is that we have decided to change uid and gid mapping range, but changing smb.conf accordingly didn't help. We use ldap as backend. After deleting all idmap entries in ldap nothing changed. If we disable winbindd caching with -n switch we receive desired effect - users get mapped to new uids and gids. Restarting winbindd

答复: I love NUT
Many Thanks for your explanation, Ted! All the necessaries to produce (and live from) new UPS-Equippment I understand. Because of this I decided years ago to sell MGE-UPS. MGE did have the greatness to pay Arnaud Quette to improve the Metasoftware NUT. So we have one Software for brand new models and over 20years old IT dinosaur. We earn money with replacement of accumulators and save in

Guest shares
I'm trying to setup Samba to function like a regular XP box connected to a workgroup. In that I mean that there is no password to browse or to connect to certain shares. Just like an XP box in Workgroup mode. Just connect and go. I have tried using various combinations of public = yes, guest ok = yes, and guest only = yes with no luck. No matter what I do I'm prompted for a

LDAP with Netscape 4 & Solaris 8
Hey all, I'm trying to get Samba 3.0.4 to work with Netscape Directory Server 4.x with LDAP. The problem is that I'm not getting authenticated thru LDAP. I've tried searching the archives(MARC), google and can find some info but nothing seems to fix it. I've loaded the Netscape V4 schema from the examples/LDAP. Included at the end is both my smb.conf file and my LDIF
