Continual Problems with "File system does not support long filenames"
When trying to create a file or folder on a samba 3.0.28-0.el4.9 share
from a Windows 2003 R2 server, I continually receive an error message
stating that the target filesystem does not support long filenames. I
have another samba 3.0.28-0.el4.9 server where this does not happen.
What causes this?
Here's the smb.conf from the "bad" server. It's pretty much the same as

First attempt file access denied subsequent file accesses granted
Hi List,
We?re running
3.0.28.el4.9 on CentOS 4.7 in a production environment with one minor annoyance.
This is a very inconsistent behavior ,frequent enough top be annoying ,yet
unpredictable enough to warrant this email.
Our Samba server is serving up a wide variety of files but in this
instance in particular are Visual Fox Pro tables (*.dbf).

Samba Member server cannot access other Member servers
Dear List,
I?ve
got a Samba NT4 domain with multiple samba member servers serving files using
domain security. Current member servers are all running CentOS 4.7 with 3.0.28-0.el4.9
I have no issues (except aging) with these systems.
I?m upgrading a major file server with CentOS5.3 64 bit with
Samba 3.0.33-3.7el5_3.1
,it?s all setup and configured but here?s a show stopper for

Hi All:
I have some questions when writing a lib with libsmbclient-dev ,my target environment is on any linux system.

2 I found that ?smbtree? command is more stable in finding all those domains and servers than

xferlog not rotating.
I am not sure how to correctly troubleshoot this. I just noticed that my
/var/log/xferlog file is huge. There are no files in /etc/logrotate.d/
for xferlog. This is what leads me to believe that it isnot rotating. Or
perhaps I do not have it set to rotate. I am not sure.
I am running CentOS release 5 (Final).
Can someone tell me what I, apparently, do not have configured correctly.
Thank
