Moving to new password scheme
dovecot is setup on a system with MD5-CRYPT password scheme for all users, and I would like to update this to something that is secure, probably SSHA256-CRYPT, but I want to do this seamlessly without the users having to jump through any hoops. The users are in mySQL (managed via postfixadmin) and the mailbox record simply stores the hash in the password field. Users access their accounts though

I have a set of PCs running WinXP and an Ubuntu Machine running Samba 3.0.28a. I am trying to achieve that each user that sits @ a PC be able to loging with their credentials and have their homes directory without login-logoff of each user at the station via the WinXP loging-logout screen. Any ideas?? C.

Yes, that would help too. That log didn't do much help, can you try enabling mail_debug=yes for a moment and see if it gives any more insight? System load spike on dovecot reload
Hi everyone, I'm running dovecot with quite a lot of users and lots of active imap connections (like 20'000). I'm using different user IDs for users, so I need to have imap {service_count=1} - i.e. I have a lots of imap processes running. Everything works fine, until I reload dovecot configuration. When that happen, every client is forced to relogin in the same time and that

2nd try: Thunderbird "Empty Trash" causes inconsistent IMAP session state?
Sorry, just one more thing I've just noticed now from looking at the IMAP session IDs: Dovecot seems to map the steps as outlined below to four different IMAP session IDs all related to the exact same Thunderbird client instance: * <yH0lKWRRpNHAqOh5> session for the folder copy of folder "Dilbert" with 317 messages * <VcMlLWRRqNHAqOh5> session for the deletion

Problems with Mailbox is in inconsistent state, please relogin.
Dear Dovecot users, I'm a sysadmin in a company that recently migrated the IMAP from courier-imap to dovecot :-) *urray* Everything with the perl migrating scripts (version 1.0) went with OKs and it was a lot of fun (and pray) to move 400Gb of mails and migrate.. and everything is working even better :-) The problem is for some outside users that use webmails, like: - Squirrel -

Problem with indexes
Hello. Dovecot is really good software but I have one big problem with indexes. I have server with a lot of mailboxes - filesystem has quota enabled and I can't resign it from different reasons. When mailbox achieve quota size and user wants to pick mails via pop3, error "-ERR Mailbox is in inconsistent state, please relogin." is given. I know it's because dovecot can't

Thunderbird "Empty Trash" causes inconsistent IMAP session state?
All, having successfully compiled and set up Dovecot 2.2.29.1 on my Thecus NAS as a newbie without any further hassle, and already imported an external mail archive of ~15 GB into a lz4-compressed mdbox (with impressive performance on the old Intel Atom CPU!), I stumbled into a minor, but reproducible issue that might well be already known, but I haven't managed to find any pointers

indexing for sub items appears to fail after validation failureq
Hi all, I have a table with an associated (has_many) table and a single form to edit the parent that displays the children as well. The associated objects are represented via partials that contain indexed fields like: <%= text_field ''form[]'', ''pages'' %> When there is a validation failure in the "child" form the oddest thing is happening,

Adding ActiveRecord objects to the session
Hi all, I am creating an AJAX quoting/puchasing system and I am having a bit of unexpected behavior when adding ActiveRecord objects to the session. When I add the ActiveRecord object (in this case QuotePart) to the session it automatically saves the object that was added to the session to the DB. And the oddest part is that it automatically fills in the foreign key field quote_id, even though

Call Connections Dropped
We just had the oddest thing happen which worries us as new users. We had 3 calls running on asterisk (one from sip to sip and the other to sip to zap). It seemed for no reason, the connections just dropped and the lines went dead. You couldn't call a phone (not even yourself). Once I restarted asterisk (it gracefully shutdown and started back up), then everything worked again. This concerns
