Domain Server Problem
Hi -- I have what I hope is a minor configuration problem. My PDC is configured so that it works just fine. I am trying to set up an additional domain server (not PDC or BDC), so that students can get to the material on the server.? When I type "net use w: \\water\archive" (where water is the domain server and archive is a share), I invariably get the message that I need to input a

Timing in a script
Hi, all -- I am trying to write a script in which I can add users and their samba passwords easily and quickly.? It looks something like: ?? useradd -c "User Name" -g groupname -p unixpassword accountname ?? echo -e "smbpassword\nsmbpassword\n" | pdbedit -a -t -u accountname If I type the lines from the keyboard, it works fine.? However, when I try to execute the script, the

[LLVMdev] CallInst constructor interface
Hi, Inserting a call instruction is a bit of a pain. The only way I know how to do it is to write a bunch of code like the following: std::vector<const Type*> formalArgs; formalArgs.push_back(arg1->getType()); formalArgs.push_back(arg2->getType()); ... formalArgs.push_back(argn->getType()); std::vector<Value*> args; args.push_back(arg1);

Still no working windbind on Solaris9 - samba 3.4.9
Greetings, Was away from samba for a time, now trying again. I have this working under Solaris 10, but have not been able to get a functional samba Active Directort member server working on Solaris 9 since samba 3.2.15. Later versions Samba will serve file to PC clients, but not permit interactive logins to the host. I see messages like: ld.so.1: su: fatal: relocation error: file

eval(expr) without printing to screen?
Hi, I have a script which I source, which evaluates a changing expression call hundreds of times. It works, but it prints to screen each time, which is annoying. There must be simple way to suppress this, or to use a slightly different set of commands, which will be obvious to those wiser than I... Here is a simpler mockup which shows the issue: x = data.frame(rbind(c(1,2,3),c(1,2,3)))

Strange printing issue in Samba 2.2.3a
Greetings, I'm seeing am odd printing problem on a Windows 2000 machine - the machine is NOT in the Samba controlled domain, but in a different "real" NT 4.0 controlled domain. The user on this machine is able to mount "shares" from my Samba servers, but since moving to 2.2.3a his is denied access to printers. Strange is he can access files on the same server that

Trying to create bootable USB flash drive WITHOUT persistence
I've got an embedded x86 system built with Yocto, which boots from a USB flash drive. It uses a loop mount to give access to an ext3 root file system contained within a FAT16 file, which means it has persistent storage. What I want is something that boots from the flash drive, but copies everything into a large RAM disk, and runs from there, so that it doesn't touch the flash drive once

If any of you have set up a system like this, I would appreciate your expertise. Question # 1:? My PDC, which controls the domain and SAMBA, should clearly use LDAP server.? Should the additional server use SAMBA server or client??

Announce: KDE User Manager does smbpasswd.
Hi, I'd like to announce a beta patch to the KDE user manager (kuser) that integrates the management of the smbpasswd encrypted password file with the existing password file. The eventual target audience is administrators installing Samba based PDC's, or other applications where an encrypted smbpasswd file needs to be managed using graphical tools not too dissimilar

AD member server - getting a user's name (GECOS)
Greetings, My odd question for the week - I've been unable to figure out if/how to do this. Given an Active Directory user ID, is there a way to get the user's real name? During testing of our Samba AD member servers I have seen user's given names appearing in the log files - is there a way that I can pull that for my own use? Our site uses loginIDs for users that give no clue

Active directory authentication and Solaris 9 problems
Greetings, I currently have Samba 3.0.14a built using gcc 3.2.2 on a Solaris 9/Sparc box. This Samba server is a member server of our Active Directory (AD) domain called "CSUNET". When logged unto a windows client machine as an AD user I can see and access resources on the Solaris server. I've been trying to get PAM working to pam_windbind.so and correctly configured. So

randomized block design analysis PROBLEM
Dear All user, Hello, I'm a student and I have some trouble with the experimental (columns-experiments) design of my project. I use a randomized block design with 4 treatments including a control. As these
