Cannot print PDF-Files...
Hi,
I have a network with a Server running 3.0.14 (Debian sarge), which is
doing quite fine as a PDC and as a printer server (using cups). Almost.
Printing is working, I can print Windows test pages, I can print
from several applications, including MS office. But I cannot print
over the network from Acrobat Reader, not at all. If a network
printer is selected and used, than _nothing_ happens,

You need to add the cifs/spn also to the AD and the keytab.

Only admin user can print?
Hi all,
after upgrading a FC3 box to FC4 which comes with Samba 3.0.23a rpm's, I
have the really strange effect that /only/ "admin users" can print to
printers shared by the Samba server. Even a double click on the printer
in Win gives an "access denied".
The access to "normal" shares (homes etc.) still works fine. Any idea
what went wrong? How could I debug

Fwd: Re: "Hosts allow" directive is not correctly evaluated for printer shares
Hello,

yes, but they are the same as in Samba. Anyway - as fare as I know - this would not matter, because Cups only communicates to Samba on the same machine via the loopback interface and/or(?) a socket and not with the clients.
Furthermore the error message comes from "lib/access.c:check_access", which is

"Hosts allow" directive is not correctly evaluated for printer shares
Hello,
the access to printer shares is denied because the client IP address is allegedly not in the "hosts allow" list, although it actually is and access to normal shares perfectly works.
I have two samba servers (3.0.33) in two different subnets with pure Windows-XP-Clients. The first subnet is 192.168.1.0/24 and the server's ip address is 192.168.1.1. Let's call this server

Problem with "ldapsam:trusted = yes"
Hi,
I updated from 3.0.11 to 3.0.12 and tried the new ldapsam:trusted
parameter. Alas smbd dies silently a second after startup.
With debug level 2 I can't see any reason in the logfile. My smb.conf is
(relevant part I hope):

Samba 4.10 member: SMB login no longer working
Overall domain architecture hasn't changed since my spring cleanup post
earlier (I did sort out the krb5 packages and logging settings, though).
To start the migration, I figured I'd first update the file servers,
since they're the least critical component. Upgrade 4.5 ? 4.8, 4.8 ?
4.9, 4.9 ? 4.10 seemed to work fine each step.
However, SMB logins either with smbclient or with

Some Users not shown and profiles won't work
Hi
I'm running samba 3.0 with ldap backand and Suse 8.2.
If I want to edit ACLs from windows an a samba-share
not all users are shown. "holger" i shown but "hein"
isn't shown. Andy idea why?
It's very strange because both can login the domain.
I had to set attribute sambaProfilePath for user
"hein" to the sambe value defined in smb.conf.
I won't add

Problem with roaming profiles
Hi
After changing from samba 2.2.7 to 3.0.rc2 I can't get roaming profiles
work. Clients Are W2K and XP.
I've also switched from smbpasswd backend to ldap. Logon path is only
set in smb.conf, not in ldap.
Storing of profiles is working but it takes very long.
I've tried logon path = \\wilma2\profile\Win2K and \\wilma2\profile.
But the clients are always storing profile in

Inserting a blank row to every other row
Hi Saba,
I don't know how to do what you want and I also cannot see why.
If you describe what you hope to achieve there might be a different
solution.
Best wishes

Inserting a blank row to every other row
Well, something like this would work (there may be slicker solutions):
> z <- data.frame(a=1:3,b = letters[1:3])
> i <- seq_len(nrow(z)) *2
> z <-rbind(z,z)
> z[i, ] <- matrix(NA, nr=nrow(z),nc=ncol(z))
> z

2 NA <NA>
3 3 c
4 NA <NA>
5 2 b
6 NA <NA>
But I agree with you that there is probably a way to handle the

Single crontab entry for every 15 minutes beginning & ending on the hour
We have a cron job that needs to run every 15 minutes throughout
business hours. The first run is at 8:00, the last run is at 17:00. Is
it possible to specify this time range in a single line?
*/15 8-17 * * 1-5 will run 8:00 - 17:45. That's not what I want.
Likewise
*/15 8-16 * * 1-5 will have the last run at 16:45, not 17:00
This is more of a brainteaser than a real problem. I can
