groups seems broken in samba-3.0.24-7.fc5
I've recently rebuilt a samba server and noticed this problem keeps coming up with groups. If I use a user in smb.conf valid users = me It works and I'm able to access the shared drive. There are no messages in the log file. However if I use group valid users = @admin I can't access the drive and I get a lot of errors in my messages file. Here is some of the errors.

Which box?
I'm sure this is a stupid question, but I'm not finding an answer anywhere. Do I need a dedicated box to run asterisk, or can I put in my server (running Fedora) and leverage some of the free cpu cycles and disk space? Thanks, Dunc

tokbox - voice and video in the browser
Interesting to note that Tokbox now has 'clientless' voice and video conferencing in the browser. Does anyone know how they do this? Any thoughts on how we can leverage off this for the asterisk community. http://tokbox.com/ Regards, Dean Collins Cognation Pty Ltd dean at cognation.net +1-212-203-4357 +61-2-9016-5642 (Sydney in-dial). -------------- next part

LLVM Pass To Remove Dead Code In A Basic Block
Hi Dean, Thanks for your reply. That's exactly what I am doing, but I was looking for a default optimization or pass implementation if there was. I used BasicBlock::splitBasicBlock() but it puts "br" end of original basic block. I tried to delete the br instruction by using eraseFromParent() but it didn't work. I had to rewrite my own splitBasicBlock() by modifying the

Michael Graves post
Michael Grave just posted a question about surround conferences. http://www.facebook.com/notes.php?id=564633430#/note.php?note_id=5009726 3908&id=564633430&index=0 I didn't see it posted on the ast-list, what do you think? Does something like this have potential? I'd love to listen in on one of these calls to see how it actually sounds if someone builds a trial

Setting up Samba and CentOS 6.2 IPA
I have a small network with mixed OS's -- some Linux (mix of distros, Ubuntu, PCLinuxOS, CentOS) and some Windows (XP and Win7). I'm replacing my server and have installed CentOS 6.2 on it. There are no Windows servers on the network. I'd like to have the server manage user accounts and passwords. Ideally, I'd be able to log in to any computer on my network with the same

Winbind + NIS + winbind trusted domains
Hello list, I need to setup a samba file server with user access from a Windows AD domain and a separate Solaris NIS domain. All of our users have an account on the AD domain but only some of our users have a Unix account. I would like Windows users that have a Unix account to have files written as per their Unix uid and users that do not have an account to have a uid assigned from winbind. I

Does NIS/yp work for authentication
If a host is running NIS (passwd file ends in +::0:0:::) authentication, will dovecot be able to authenticate with auth_userdb = passwd directly and automagically or do you have to do a ypcat passwd > pwfile periodically to generate a passwd file that dovecot can use? ? Thanks! -- ==== Stewart Dean, Unix System Admin, Henderson Computer Resources Center of Bard College,

newbie questions
Thanks in advance for your patience and assistance. Since a system administrator's work is most successful when nobody knows you've done anything....(ugly that...you get neither raises nor equipment funding as a result), I prefer to learn from other's experiences rather than fail in the same pits. We are considering a switch from UW to Dovecot, since our users persist in using

/etc/passwd authentication anomalies
I am using the base AIX Unix authentication with NIS. There is a base /etc/password file (though the passwords are in a funny, IBM-peculiar file, /etc/security/passed) of just 18 lines...since NIS is in use, the last line is the standard for-anything-you-don't-find-here-try NIS indicator: +::0:0::: When I start up DC, I get these error massages: Apr 9 14:44:59 mercury mail:err|error

Ebay Unwired Buyer, Using Asterisk?
Just got a call from Ebay's unwired buyer and "The Voice" is Allison Smith. Adoption is wide but who is willing to give away their competitive edge (although ebay doesn't really have any real competition). Thanks, Steve

Inconsistent NIS Client Behavior w/ Centos 7.6
Hi All. I am working on bringing back a number of Centos 7 rigs in our student computer lab back online. No change was made to the existing server machine [running Scientific Linux 6] Right now there is one remaining thing to resolve: an inconsistency with the rigs' NIS Clients. I have configured rcpbind and ypbind following guidance from Server World (

detect outliers and high levarage points
Hi friends, How to detect outliers and high leverage points for GLM ? Could I use plot(model) (i) "Residuals vs Fitted" graph to detect the outliers ? (ii) "Residuals vs Leverage" graph to detect the high leverage points ? And then remove those points from the data and re-run the model ? [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

Enhanced version of plot.lm()
I propose the following enhancements and changes to plot.lm(), the most important of which is the addition of a Residuals vs Leverage plot. (1) A residual versus leverage plot has been added, available by specifying which = 5, and not included as one of the default plots. Contours of Cook's distance are included, by default at values of 0.5 and 1.0. The labeled points, if any, are those

Managing Samba Active directory.
Hmm, thanks to all who replied... you've actually made me think of another question... I gues it's a bit odd on this list to see someone who's looking at using AD that doesn't know anything about it... last time I was tempted down the Windows path it was Win9x. Anyway, you mentioned "netgroup management", which makes me wonder if the other NIS style maps can be
