samba PDC + BDCs + LDAP
Hi, I'm not a seasoned samba user but I do have a little experience with it (mostly small setups with plain smbpasswd file and a few workstations). I also have some experience with OpenLDAP and I've even written some objectclasses and attributes when the standard ones weren't enough However, I'm trying to set up a midsized network using LDAP for SSO and I can't make samba

Character encoding mystery
Hi everyone, I have a very annoying character encoding problem. Have a look to this: # ls -l M*mo-1.* -rw-rw-rw- 1 root root 8417218 6 sept. 2013 Mémo-1.aif -rwxr--r-- 1 hope hope 8417218 6 sept. 2013 Mémo-1.aif -rw-rw-rw- 1 root root 363175 6 sept. 2013 Mémo-1.m4a -rwxr--r-- 1 hope hope 363175 6 sept. 2013 Mémo-1.m4a Yes, it looks like two files have exactly the same name, but

rpmbuild --define | some rpm sorcerer around?
hi how do you pass vars to rpmbuild for definition? eg rpmbuild --define \'"${_definition2}"\' I've been fiddling with ways to escape, but none is fricking working.. I mean, rpmbuild rushes to work(no errors nor failure) so if you try just the command line do not believe it, because later as it executes %if you will see process does not see these definitions. many

I think it should be neither. Ugh... FreeNAS UI doesn't let me disable the Domain Logons setting for some reason, so I'll have to talk to them on that one and it seems they have no option for me to modify the server role. Thankfully I can edit smb.conf directly on the archlinux box where I was able to duplicate the issue. Setting sever role = auto, domain logons = yes doesn't fix the

Well that was easier than I thought. Here's the default config provided by archlinux's samba package, but with "deadtime = 1" included. With this config, shares mounted via mount.cifs thrash on port 445 after a few minutes. I think the reconnect logic in the kernel's CIFS client is broken. Should I report this on the kernel mailing list? ----- # This is the main Samba

File/folder permission issues in 2.1.3
Hi, I figured out that Dovecot does not honer secondary groups with auth/auth-worker (??), if doing LDAP/TLS stuff. I had to use file system acls to add the user "vmail" to /etc/ssl/private and to the corresponding key file: doveconf -n # 2.1.3: /etc/dovecot/dovecot.conf # OS: Linux 2.6.32-40-generic-pae i686 Ubuntu 10.04.4 LTS auth_master_user_separator = * auth_mechanisms = plain

doveadm not working
Hi, I know I must have done some misconfiguration, but I do not know where to start searching for. All began when looking at my weekly cron message, where doveadm purge -A is run. That fails. So I tried doveadm quota -A as well, which several weeks ago was working perfectly. Example: doveadm quota get -A doveadm(root): Error: User listing returned failure doveadm: Error: Failed to iterate

Help. . .read socket data errors
I am using the defaults that came with the samba RPM package on Mandrake 10.1. For socket options, it has: socket options = TCP_NODELAY SO_RCVBUF=8192 SO_SNDBUF=8192 Is that something that may fix the problem if I change it?
