My samba server stop to respond many times today even though I've upgraded
the memory from 1Gb to 5Gb (it keeps eating my memory out). I've tried samba
3.0.32, 3.2.4 before, but no success. I go to samba.org and found
samba-3.3.0rc1. Is it save to use it in our production server? I'm really
desperate here. Anyway, I've been trying to rpmbuild its source code but

hi,
just found a typo?? in current CVS
in 'nsswitch/pam_winbind.c'..
PAM_AUTHTOK_RECOVER_ERR should be PAM_AUTHTOK_RECOVERY_ERR..
don't know if this is true for all PAM-able systems, but for my
FreeBSD-5.0 it is necessary..
can somebody please check this?

Unable to join ADS domain with 3.3.0rc1 on Suse 11.0 linux
I'm setting up anew server with 3.3.0rc1 and cannot join my AD domain.
It may not be a problem strictly linked to the samba versiom, for my
Active Directory administrators have tightened and enforced security
policies since last time I joined a linux server succefully.
BTW, this is what I get with net join command:
namenor:/usr/src/local/samba/samba-3.3.0rc1/source # net ads join -S

pam compile problem on AIX
Trying to compile Samba --with-winbind, --with-ads, --with-krb5 and
--with-pam on AIX 5.2. I receive the set of errors shown below before
the compile fails in pam_winbind.c.
This happens with Samba 3.0.11, 3.0.10, and 3.0.4 (shown below).
The ultimate goal is to have users be able to telnet or ssh into the AIX
boxen with their credentials actually stored in AD.
What am I doing wrong? Are

Active Directory
I keep seeing questions about Windows Active Directory, so I will pass along
what info I have been able to gather.
Active Directory is billed as Microsoft's LDAP service, used to hold user,
group, and other such data and is standard with Windows 2000.
While billed as LDAP, Active Directory does not conform to standard LDAP
schema, which will break some ldap clients written specifically to

SAMBA configuration nightmare (AIX) - idmaps do not work (core dump), ldap/nss_ldap and pam fail
Well, I have tried really hard to get any of the idmaps to work--in
that, idmap_ads, idmap_rid, and I have tried to use idmap stroage in
ldap with padl (nss_ldap) too, but I have had no luck. If I enable pam
in /usr/lib/security/methods.cfg or nss_ldap, I cannot log into the
system anymore. If I enable pam in /etc/pam.conf and use in
/etc/security/users SYSTEM = "WINBINd or WINBIND[UNAVAIL]

Active directory authentication and Solaris 9 problems
Greetings,
I currently have Samba 3.0.14a built using gcc 3.2.2 on a Solaris
9/Sparc box. This Samba server is a member server of our Active
Directory (AD) domain called "CSUNET". When logged unto a windows
client machine as an AD user I can see and access resources on the
Solaris server.
I've been trying to get PAM working to pam_windbind.so and correctly
configured. So
