how to make 'winbind nss info = sfu' work in v >= 3.0.26a
There is an instance of Ms.Active Directory that has had the 'Services For Unix' applied. I use winbind v3.0.24 to get user/group info from that Ms.Active directory instance like so: -------- begin smb.conf snippet: ------------ security = ADS realm = mydomain.com workgroup = MYDOMAIN winbind enum groups = yes winbind enum users = yes winbind nested groups = yes winbind nss info = sfu

Homedir Access without exposing whole Homedir.
Hello All, Dovecot 1.0.3 I am coming from UW IMAP, and I'm finding for some reason that mail is getting stored in a variety of places (which I believe, is because by default UW imap allowed access to the entire home directory). All files are mbox. My default delivery location is ~/.mail Thus: * At least a couple of my users have mail in ~/INBOX, as well as ~/INBOX.drafts (not many

TLSVerifyClient demand or try
Hi all! I'm very close to have a fully functional samba and openldap. Thanks to idealx.org. I just need to understand how it works. Everything works accept one thing. When I change TLSVerifyClient allow to TLSVerifyClient demand in slapd.conf and do: ldapsearch -x -ZZ -b 'dc=yourdomain,dc=com' '(objectclass=*)' -d 127 in the end I get: ldap_chkResponseList for msgid=2, all=1

Lattice / Trellis analog of axis(graphics) ?
My question is so basic that I am (almost too) embarrassed to admit that I could not find an answer after an hour's worth of homework. What is the Trellis / Lattice analog for the axis(graphics) function that enables the creation of axes in locations other than the default (i.e., bottom for X axis and right for Y axis) ? For example when plotting mileage against weight (in American

Sieve management without shell access or homedir
Hi. Is there some user friendly application (web based, maybe a webmail addon) that can help a user manage their sieve filtering? My mail users don't have any shell access to the mail host. Most users won't have a regular home directory either. Can I store this sieve information someplace else? Either directly in LDAP, or in some database, or a common directory for all user's

can "template homedir" build paths based on user groups culled from getent groups?
Hi all, I am in the process of moving our schools student file server to Samba from Win2k3 and I want to replicate the setup we currently have which puts students home directories under their graduation year like this: \students\2008\username Under AD students are in OU's based on grad year. We're using winbind (with idmap_rid tdb) to pull users and groups from AD, 'getent

template homedir and idmap_ad
Some empirical testing shows that if I am using the idmap_ad module the template homedir parameter in smb.conf is ignored. I would just like to determine if this is the correct behaviour or if I am doing something wrong. JAB. -- Jonathan A. Buzzard Email: jonathan (at) buzzard.me.uk Fife, United Kingdom.

mounting windows homedir when using winbind
I've got samba with winbind set up, local machine is acting as domain member. getnet returns windows users/groups, wbinfo confirms that local machine acts is domain member, logging through ssh with pam_winbind set u works etc. On another machine, windoes xp also being domain member, I've got homedir share mounted antomatically as U: from //server/users. When I try to mount this share from

winbind can get uid and gid from sfu, but not homedir or loginshell
I have winbind v3.0.26a running on ubuntu server v7.10 (gutsy). I intend to get user & group info from MsActiveDirectory. However, when I type: getent passwd somerandomuser I get the uid and gid for the user, as recorded in the msad schema by virtue of sfu, but the homedir and loginshell that are returned are like what "winbind nss info = template" would return by default:

dot in homedir path hangs wine
Hi, When I try to, for example, import a registry file from the graphical registry editor (regedit) wine freezes its execution. The same happens when it tries to open the file selection dialog in general. This happens in some cases when the usernames are formed by name.lastname. If the user directory does not contain a "." the problem vanishes. (I can't change the usernames,

Laptop and NFS homedir
In my professional environment, user's laptop have small (but fast ;-)) storage and a local home directory (centOS7). They use sshfs to reach a central storage for most of their needs. This central storage is secured (ceph replication + daily backup). It works also from home but, of course, with lower performances behind an ADSL box. No problem with closing connections. With following configuration: userdb static { args = uid=10000 gid=10000 home=/home/vmail/domain.tld/%u/./ mail=maildir:~/maildirs } and accompanying passdb passwd-file consisting of only user and password, for example test:{PLAIN}test: dovecot will access home=/home/vmail/domain.tld/test/home/vmail/domain.tld/test/maildirs instead of home=/home/vmail/domain.tld/test/maildirs dovecot

deliver & override homedir
Hi We're in the phase of converting our existing unix-based users to virtual users. Goal is to make mail-spool totaly independent of home-spool. For that reason, NO files can be written to home. I've solved the problem for all files, except for .dovecot.lda-dupes. I can see in duplicate.c #define DUPLICATE_PATH "~/.dovecot.lda-dupes" I thought being clever and override in
