Can't map group domain share from ADS
I've set up the following and can open a home share for me (sylveg). I've created a group on W2KADS and on OURSAMBALINUX called oadmin and added me as a member in both. I created a samba share called o_drive (see smb.conf below) w/ the linux dir /home/o_drive and valid users = %D+oadmnin. The /home dir is: drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4096 2004-09-03 15:16 ftp/ drwx------ 2 root root

Multiple 2003 Servers
Hi, I am busy trying to get another 2003 server setup and working so that we have backup servers when authenticating to AD. I believe the way we have to do it is to not specify a server when joining the domain, but rather just connect to the domain. Here is what I did. I installed a standard 2003 server, and then installed a second one, making it another controller in the domain. So that seems

Join multiple CTDB managed Samba servers into Active Directory
Hi , I have set up a 2-node CTDB cluster serving NFS and CIFS authenticating Windows and Linux users via Active Directory. The setup works fine, except only one server in the CTDB-cluster is able to join the AD domain at a given instance. If you manually add the other server into AD, the already connected server gets disconnected. There is no specific error message logged in /var/log/message or

Fwd: Dynamic DNS Updates not working. samba_dnsupdate : RuntimeError: (sambalist: to exclusive) kinit for [DC@Realm] failed (Cannot contact any KDC for requested realm)
Good morning! First of all thanks Rowland for the fast answer yesterday! I realized that samba-technical might have been the wrong mailing list and switched it to the normal samba users list (hopefully it worked, as it does get a bit confusing with spamgourmets addresses!). Unfortunately the problem with samba_dnsupdate remains after the changes. I did changed the smb.conf, krb5.conf, and hosts

winbind joining wrong AD domain?
(Apologies in advance for the length of this message - hopefully someone more familiar with AD will be able to point me in the right direction or at least help me identify what's going wrong here).. I'm in the process of putting together a new print server using Samba and CUPS, and I'm having a bit of trouble getting Samba to properly join the AD domain. Printing works perfectly, and

Fwd: Dynamic DNS Updates not working. samba_dnsupdate : (sambalist: message 3 of 20) RuntimeError: (sambalist: to exclusive) kinit for [DC@Realm] failed (Cannot contact any KDC for requested realm)
Thank you for the answers Peter and Rowland and sorry to everybody for the spam...switched to another e-mail address and hope my messages will arrive only once from now on. As I wrote in my first mail, Kerberos does work. I can successfully request and list a ticket on the AC DC. kinit administrator at INTRANET.MAYWEG.NET Password for administrator at INTRANET.MAYWEG.NET: klist Ticket cache:

winbind/kerberos with multiple DCs fail to authenticate.
While testing the latest Samba3.0.0beta3, I notice that if I don't specify a password server winbind appears to look it up via DNS, and with two DCs, picks one. However, my krb5.conf specifies a particular Kerberos server (one of the two DCs), and so occasionally, winbind will pick the first DC, and kerberos uses the other. When this happens, I can't seem to connect to any shares on the

Convert Member Server to DC
I have some hardware running CentOS 7 and Sernet Samba 4.7 that started out as a member server that I would like to make into a 2nd DC. However I am having trouble converting it because it seems I am not removing all the remnants of the client setup. What I thought I would have to do is this: 1.) net ads leave -U administrator 2.) Remove the machine entry on the 1st DC 3.) mv /var/lib/samba

Authenticating off a Windows 2003 ADS DC with Samba/Winbind
[originally posted to fedora-users] I'm having difficulty getting samba/winbind to authenticate of a W2K3 box. I've searched the list archives and although there are some similar problems, none have seemed to help resolve this one. Here's the network configuration: - Windows 2003 Server gx270-rmaniar [192.168.0.100] - Fedora Core 3 gx280rmaniarFC3 [192.168.0.5] FYI: A Windows XP box

ASN.1 encoding ended?
Hi all. Im having a bit of a problem. I have about 20 Samba servers all over the country on 256/512 WAN links. We just upgraded our primary NT4 domain to mixed-mode Active Directory on Windows 2003. In addition to that we have a native-mode Active Directory domain on Windows 2003. We were planning on merging a couple of NT4 domains into 1 native mode Active Directory domain, but plans have

ADS authentication in disjointed, multiple forest
All, I have recently come across a problem I have been unable to resolve. I have been running Samba with Winbind ADS authentication for the last couple of years with good success until recently. About 2 weeks ago, I restarted the Samba and Winbind services on a Fedora Core 3 machine runing Samba 3.0.10-1 (installed from FC3 RPMs) and the active directory authentication has started failing. The
