dbus/systemd failure on startup (CentOS 7.7)
We are seeing a problem that occurs ~5% of the time when rebooting CentOS 7.7 where systemd gets a 'Connection timed out' to D-Bus just after the D-Bus service starts - from 'journalctl -x' : ... C8 Question
Hi list, I installed on my workstation C8.1 (1911) and performed a minimal install and then installed XFCE from EPEL. I noticed a strange behaviour (don't know if this is the wanted default). If I try ,from normal user shell, to run command like "reboot" or "shutdown -h now" system will reboot/shutdown. This happens on tty console, on xfce terminal and ssh session.

undefined method
I''m trying to pass a method to another object/method as a variable. Example one, login 1 works just fine. def login1 @driver.Login(username, password) end However, if I try to pass "Login" to the driver as an argument (example two Login 2), I get "undefined method `command_string'' for #<SOAP::RPC::Driver:0x316dc28>" "Login" is a legit

PV Lenny 32 bits into 64 bits dom0 - Grub / kernel problem
Hello, I can''t solve my problem. I want a 32 bits Lenny domU into a 64 bits Lenny dom0. I plan to use pygrub for that (xen 3.2.1). So, I tried to debootstrap a 32 bits domU into a 64 bits dom0. debootstrap --arch=i386 --include=libc6-xen,firmware-bnx2,linux-image-2.6.26-1-xen-686,linux-modules-xen-686,linux-image-xen-686,grub --components=main,contrib,non-free lenny /mnt/xen

VNC question
We have run into the infamous black screen problem with tigervnc under CentOS7, which prompted me to look into how vnc is configured here. https://access.redhat.com/solutions/966063 Am I reading this correctly - root needs to set up a systemd vnc service for every user and display individually? Compared to e.g. CentOS before 7, or indeed any other Linux/Unix system where vnc is completely under

best way to work with cvs?
I use a script to get the lastest samba: #!/usr/bin/ksh echo "\npassword: cvs\n" cvs -d :pserver:cvs@pserver.samba.org:/cvsroot login cvs -z5 -d :pserver:cvs@pserver.samba.org:/cvsroot co samba Are there any other commands I could tack on or something I should do differently to make sure I am getting correct rebuilds? For example, should I tack on at the end: cd

Centos User Privileges.
Hi list, I've installed C 7.1.1503 and I've noticed that simple user can run from bash shutdown -h now/reboot without getting special permission (sudo, su). The machine is a VM without GUI (tested also on physical machine). From reddit I've got a suggestion: removing/comment out "-session optional pam_systemd.so" in /etc/pam.d/system-auth the problem is solved. This is a

[PATCH] p2v: Inhibit power saving during the conversion.
We do this by sending an Inhibit() message to logind and receiving a file descriptor back, which we hold open until the conversion completes (or fails). This is described here: https://www.freedesktop.org/wiki/Software/systemd/inhibit/ This adds an additional optional dependency on DBus since we use DBus to call the Inhibit() method. user authentication issue
Hey Samba list, First a brief comment regarding my background and situation. This is my first time posting to this list. I've been asked to resolve a Samba authentication issue, but I have next to no experience using Samba. Unfortunately no one else here knows how to use it either; we're operating with an inherited environment from a sysadmin who left minimal documentation, and we have

dqrdc2_ dqrsl_ dtrsl_ missing from libs? compiling earth standalone
I have been trying to compile the earth Multivariate Adaptive Regression of Splines package as a standalone application under Linux (x86_64 kernel-2.6.27.21 openSUSE 11.1) with gcc 4.3.2. The package compiles without problems from within R as an R module and I get the following linker error: earth.c:(.text+0x1a14): undefined reference to `dqrdc2_' earth.c:(.text+0x1ae4): undefined
