Cannot join domain
Hello, I just configured a computer on my local network to work as a PDC with Samba, although I'm not able to join the Domain from the windows computer I want to add. I though it was that the server was unreachable, but I can ping the server from the computer and viceversa. If someone please can help me, I'll appreciate it. The smb.conf file is here: ------------------- [global]

only ROOT user?
Hi all. I am a total newbie at Samba. I am running Ubuntu 6.06 (Dapper) and have Samba 3.022 installed. I am trying to set it up as a Domain controller (to be a domain server that Windows machines can log into). So far, I can get it to do this, but only with the ROOT account. Any other account and it tells me that the user/password is incorrect or invalid. Below is my smb.conf file. In the

Opus Requirement for embedded Application
Hello everyone, I tried integrating opus middleware on an STM32L4 microcontroller based project. First thing I noticed is the considerable amount of memory allocated by the opus_encoder_create function (nearly 40 kbytes if I recall). After modifying my project's memory setting (mainly heap size adjustments), I could bypass some aspects of this problems. What I'm noticing now is the time

XP clients cannot find Samba
Hello, I've set up Samba 3.0.22 on an Ubuntu box for testing purposes. Below is my smb.conf file. The Samba server, ubuntu, is on the other side of a Linksys WRTP54G router, serving NAT to my Windows XP clients on the inside. I've opened port 139 on the router, set up NetBEUI, placed entries in the clients' hosts & lmhosts files. For some reason, the clients can logon to

Slow samba transfer
Thats the diagnosis: transfering the same file via smb, scp and ftp I got big speed differences. SMB: file : 1Gb, transfer rate 15-35 kb/s SCP: file : 1Gb, transfer rate 360-780 kb/s FTP: file : 1Gb, transfer rate 360-780 kb/s Why is via smb so slow? ntconfig.pol not even being loaded
At one site I support, I have just recently put a policy file on their server to try and make some stuff easier to manage. Only problem is Windows is not even trying to load it. I watched the traffic in Wireshark, and there's no request for the ntconfig.pol file at all. And of course nothing from it is being applied. I had read that this can happen if someone has set the policy refresh

Lost most data on Windows XP machine switching to domain
I'm wondering if anyone has run across that and MUCH more importantly, if the data can be recovered somehow. I'll put as much details as I can at the bottom but here's the gist of the problem: I added my wives computer (which contains 8 years worth of pictures) to the domain. When I logged into the new domain account it was empty and my wives domain users had no access so I did the

Alls I ever get is "Your computer account was not found or the password is incorrect" I even tried rejoining the domain which works. connection to IPC$ denied due to security descriptor
Hey all, I have a fileserver running Debian Etch and Samba 3.0.24 that I use to serve media and private home directories. I have a couple roommates, and therefore have a couple accounts on the box for those users. I had everything working perfectly until last week when my system drive took a crap. I've reinstalled everything exactly the same (I think?) but now I am having problems with

Unable to connect to domain after upgrading to Samba 3.6.9
Thanks in advance for your help. We recently upgraded from Centos 5.X samba 3.5 to Centos 6.X samba 3.6.9. Shared drives and data are accessible which indicates that user accounts were also successfully migrated. However when attempting to connect one of our Windows 7 Pro 64-bit SP1 workstation to our Samba domain controller the connection fails. I did have to add a SRV record for

Problem authenticating with Samba (security=domain) + Windows 2000 PDC
Hi all!! I'd set up my samba 2.2.7 to auth with "security=domain" mode, but my clients cannot auth successfully never because the samba server cannot "talk" correctly with my PDC(w2k adv. Server). In the computer manager event, I see authentication request but with empty usernames......so the PDC reject the authentication request. Is this a know
