WG: Samba, ldap and machine accounts
Hello G?tz,
grep yourself ldapadmin to administrate samba3
http://ldapadmin.sourceforge.net.
What means to a certain point? You must add the machines on your centosbox
to samba/ldap with the
smbldap-tools (This never worked with my version). I did it with ldapadmin.

Access Samba4 ldap
Hi,
I have some doubts about how to manage Samba4 LDAP.
I'm trying to access with LdapAdmin, but i don't know the default user and

How can i connect samba4 with a external ldap server?

Wierd failure when adding W2K to Samba3.0.0+LDAP Domain
Dear list
I have been at it for a few day trying to get my SuSE 8.2 server (FREESIDE) to
produce a domain (SKOGFARET) for my Windows 2000 Server machine (BABYLON).
I use OpenLDAP, and the setup seems to work in most ways, except the vital one
[ie. I can mount shares, print, etc...]
When I try to add W2K (BABYLON) to the domain, I get the following error:

Internal LDAP problem
Hi!
I'm trying to use the internal LDAP provided by Samba4 to store mail
domains used by SOGo. I have two sets of users. Those used by Samba and
created through samba-tool and those created under some "ou" I have made
up. A few days ago I was able to change the latter users passwords using
"ldapadmin" (a windows LDAP client) but today I am not. When I try to

Old question - NT4 BDC in Samba domain?
Hi!
I have to migrate a samba domain to an Active Directory and
therefore I need as first step to have a NT4.0 BDC in my network.
As I don't find an useful answer via google I want to ask you if a
NT4 BDC will work in a Samba PDC enviroment?

"Unwilling to Perform" UNIX Attributes
Hi,
I'm running Samba 4.0.8, on FreeBSD 9.2, from operating system
packages, as a DC. I have a BDC, running the same. I'm using a Windows
7 workstation with "Active Directory Users and Computers" snap-in to
manage usernames, passwords, etc. The workstation is part of the
domain, and I'm logged on as Administrator in the domain.
I can create groups and add members to them

Define a rootDN for ldap queries in Samba 4 AD
Hi Samba Team and users,
My question could seem very simple and possibly answer is also simple
(if it's the case i'm sorry by advance), but i've found almost no doc
about this topic in the wiki.
I'm currently running Samba 4 AD in a test environment, preparing for
production. Everything is working quite fine, but i'm struggling about
some configuration;

remote password change, if password is expired
Hi,
I don't know if the password check script is executed if you change the password using samba. You can simply test it:
Download "LdapAdmin":
http://www.ldapadmin.org
Connect to your DC as a user. Then navigate to your user object and click on "Set password" in the context menu. Then you can verify if your script will be executed.
Other options like the password length

permissions problems
I am obviously confused about something, and feel like I am chasing
ghosts. Any help or clarification would be appreciated.
When a user logs in we get messages about corrupt recycle bins.
Setting the logging to level 2 for that client, we have errors like:
open_directory: unable to create user/Desktop. Error was
NT_STATUS_OBJECT_NAME_COLLISION.
OK, the folder already exists in the

Moving LDAP tree
Hi,
I posted earlier to the samba-technical list, asking how to change the
source to reflect my Windows 2003 setup, which apparently uses a different
place to store DNS entries. But it's probably better to just move that part
of the LDAP tree to where Samba expects it, so that's what I'm attempting
now. (the original thread is at the end of this mail for reference)
I would like to
