Problem building 3.2.4 on Solaris 10
Hi, I'm trying to build Samba 3.2.4 on Solaris 10 using the Sun Studio 12 compiler, but configure keeps dying at: checking for LDAP support... auto checking ldap.h usability... yes checking ldap.h presence... yes checking for ldap.h... yes checking lber.h usability... yes checking lber.h presence... yes checking for lber.h... yes checking for ber_tag_t... yes checking for ber_scanf in

Problem building Samba 3.3 on Solaris 10
Hi, I attempted to build v3.3 using Sun Studio 12, but it failed right out of the gate. It looks like it can't find the standard libraries, but according to the make output, it's looking in the right places. Would someone please clue me in as to what I'm missing? Thanks. -John Using FLAGS = -I/opt/heimdal/include -I/usr/sfw/include/openssl -g -xs -xtarget=ultraT1

Role of "password server" statement
Hi, Using Samba 3.6.3 on Ubuntu 12.04. I'm trying to understand how the "password server" statement works with winbind. I thought if you don't use the default "*" value, but instead created a list of DCs, it would only use a DC from that list. But, we have seen winbind connect to a DC that is not listed in the password server statement, but is listed in DNS:

Test Failure for RW1 with samba-3.0.30, Solaris 9
I'm trying to build and install Samba 3.0.30 on a Solaris 9 SPARC machine. When I do a "make test", the RW1 test is failing. If I go back and configure and build 3.0.28 with the same settings, and do a make test, everything passes. Here's what I'm seeing with 3.0.30: ---8<--- Testing RW1 (0) TEST OUTPUT: host=127.0.0.2 share=tmp user=root myname=cannes Running RW1

Still stuck with Samba on Solaris 10
I was hoping someone could post, or point me to, a clear set of instructions for compiling Samba 3.5.3 (or even 3.4.8) on Solaris 10. Or even just confirmation that Solaris 3.5.3 really can compile on Solaris 10 with active directory, nsswitch and zfs support. (I notice that Samba and Blastwave versions of Samba 3.4.x do not include zfs and nsswitch support.) I have a consistent issue that I

Fwd: RE: Problems 'make'ing on Solaris 9/10
On Solaris 10 (x86), trying to compile samba 3.5.2 I have downloaded GCC 3.4.x., make, binutils (ld etc) and sed from Sunfreeware. GCC (gcc -v) has /usr/ccs/bin/ld hardcoded so the only way around it was to symlink to the gnu one. # mv /usr/ccs/bin/ld /usr/ccs/bin/ld.1 # ln -s /usr/local/bin/ld /usr/ccs/bin/ld # ./configure --prefix=/usr/local/talloc-2.0.1 When setting some

Samba 2.2.6 Install Issue With Solaris 9
All: Tried to upgrade from Samba 2.0.7 to 2.2.6 on a Solaris 9 platform. Without setting the LD_LIBRARY_PATH, configure would fail around line 14160 I believe this is related the the fact that it couldn't find the library "libpopt.so.0". (See below excerpt from logs) Output from configure: checking whether to enable winbind auth challenge/response code... no checking

Solaris 10 Configuration file
I download the samba-3.5.3.tar and need to create the executables for Solaris 10. I do not have the gcc compiler and would like to use the SUNWspro/bin/cc compiler. What I need is a "MyConfigure" script that will create a usable Makefile. I don't need anything fancy like ldap, ads etc. I do have gnumake. For example what environment variables are necessary (PATH, LD_LIBRARY_PATH,

I'm done. Good to go. Good compile + new binaries all built against the latest OpenSSL libraries. Big thank you to James, Joseph Tam and Aki Tuomi who game me pointers and kept me in the right direction. ........................................................................ These are the settings that made everything work for me. First, needed a current, up-to-date version of OpenSSL

Building Samba 3.5.9 on Solaris 10
I wanted to build samba with CUPS and LDAP support, and put it into a location from where it can be automounted by other systems. There were a few gotchas I solved the hard way, to save anyone else's time, this is what I did. C compiler I used is Sun's Studio. Solaris sed behaves differently to Sunfreeware sed tolka source3 $ echo libwbclient.so.0|/usr/local/bin/sed

Unable to configure R 2.2.1 on Solaris 5.10 x86_64
