Compile help for Solaris 10 x86, samba 3.0.28a deficient?
Hi all,
I've got an ongoing battle with samba shipped with Sun Solaris 10 in
it's current form (Samba version 3.0.28a) not wanting to talk to my
OpenLDAP master correctly. Essentially, under certain conditions, this
behaviour is observed, in the log.smbd:
[2008/10/11 08:54:03, 1, pid=13610] libsmb/cliconnect.c:(1451)
Error connecting to 192.168.117.150 (Connection refused)

samba 3.0.24 works - samba 3.0.25 fails
Folks:
I've got several systems attached to a 2003 domain where we use
kerberos to authenticate.
When I upgraded a system to the latest greatest samba things stopped
working. Just to find where it happened in the different versions of
samba I downloaded, built, & ran 3.0.23d to 3.0.25c using the same
smb.conf file. Turns out the 2.0.23d and 3.0.24 works but from 3.0.25
on it fails.

Windows 7 only connects if joined to the domain
I'm running 3.4.6 (was running 3.0.28a but upgraded in hopes to fix this issue). Clients running Windows 7 that are NOT joined to the AD domain (samba authenticates against it via "security = server") cannot authenticate to access the server. Clients running Windows 7 that are on the domain as well as Windows XP, Windows 2003 on and off the domain work as expected.
Any help would

Samba 3.0.8 - Unable to login/logon from Windows 2003 or CIFS
Hi Folks,
Recently (I believe since recent 3.0.x releases), I have been unable to
login to a Samba instance using CIFS (Linux mount) or Windows 2003. If I
change the smb.conf from:
security = server
to
security = user
I _can_ login again fine. The NT PDC always replies with
NT_STATUS_LOGON_FAILURE. It's event viewer shows that the proper
username is being used, but that the password is

using Windows DC in security = server mode
We run Samba, but wish to authenticate against Windows DC. We do this
using the "security = server" mode. We don't have the option of being
part of the Windows setup directly. Although authentication is done
against Windows DC (so users are not prompted for passwords) users do
need a Unix account to use the service.
We have users in multiple Windows domains, and the DCs we

samba 3.2.5 PDC guest access lost
Hi all,
I had linux samba 3.0.10 running as PDC of my domain which does only
authentication
for other linux samba boxes which are providing access to shares.
After upgrade of PDC to Debian Lenny + samba 3.2.5 I've lost guess
access to the shares which are run by samba 3.0.x boxes,
while it works on samba 3.2.5 samba box. the scheme is like following :

problem with dovecot and sieve
Hi
We've been using dovecot with great success so far. We are trying to
add sieve support for our users.
We enabled managesieve and users can define rules from the webmail
(roundcube) with sieverules plugin for roundcube.
Everything goes ok, but here's a problem I couldn't figure yet.
When I define a redirect rule, the mail is forwarded but a local copy
is stored too. Weird thing is

mount_smbfs and samba 2.2.0
I know 5.1 isn't considered part of -stable, but it doesn't really seem like -current either, so I'm asking here. If this is the wrong place please let me know where I should be.
At work I have a 5.1-R box that I'm trying to use to mount shares from a Sun box running samba 2.2.0 as well as some Win2K boxes. Both the sun and win2k machines authenticate to the company's domain

Is mount_smbfs broken in 6.1-PRERELEASE?
Anyone know if mount_smbfs is broken in 6.1, I'm trying to run this:
"mount_smbfs -I 192.168.1.2 //nbritton@192.168.1.2/music2 /mnt/network/music/"
And then it asks for my password, I type it in, and then I get this error:
"mount_smbfs: unable to open connection: syserr = Authentication error"
I've had this same problem on another 6.1 box too... I can run this

IDMAP_NSS on member server
I have two Samba 3.6.24 domain controllers (Solaris 10.) On all
machines unix accounts and groups are in the LDAP as well as idmap
entries for trusted domains. Samba accounts on domain controllers are
in LDAP so there is problem with consistency unix/windows id and group
mapping on the domain controllers. The domain controllers are the
main file servers as well.

Compile Samba without AD/ADS for a slim installation
I am trying to compile samba4 for a raspberry pi. I just want it to be
able to share a folder of files. I do not need or want all the
functionality and features of a full blown samba installation. This i s on
Arch and it is an armv6 raspberry.
I have some partial instructions for compiling without ad-dc and ads but
keep getting a failed build. I have been grepping all over and I have been

I'm running OS X 10.3.9/Samba 3.0.10. When I try to connect to my
Windows 2000 machine from my user account, I enter the correct
workgroup/user/password and then get the message 'The Finder cannot
complete the operation because some data in "smb://machinename" could
not be read or written. (Error code -36).' (Error code -36 in OS X is
"i/O error (bummers)".)

IDMAP_NSS on member server
I think IDMAP_RID would not be the appropriate solution for me. Not
only do I want consistent IDMapping across all servers - which this
could do - but I want them to match the the existing unix uidNumber in
LDAP.
Thanks for your help.
