Samba 3.0.25a - FreeBSD - permissions problem?
I have a problem with the latest Samba (3.0.25a) running under FreeBSD (recent STABLE: FreeBSD 6.2-STABLE #41: Mon Jun 11 19:24:30 CEST 2007). I run multiple Samba/FreeBSD file servers (in a Windows 2003 domain with Windows 2003 DCs), and everything worked quite nicely until this week. After an upgrade (both Samba and OS), I have a serious problem with access. I am using pam_winbind with

Samba Permissions vs Linux Permissions
Hi, I understand that Linux permissions override Samba permissions. But is it also the case that the Samba permissions override the Linux permissions? Example: I have a samba share called "SHARE". This is disabled by default and is configured for write access by group "MY_GROUP". The permissions of all files and folders within /c/SHARE are 777 (rwxrwxrwx).

setfacl(1) - Can FreeBSD's ACLs contain groups from NT/AD domains ?
Hi all, I have "FreeBSD 7.0-CURRENT #1: Wed Jul 25" authenticating successfully against active directory via samba's winbindd(8). I need to manage samba shares via FreeBSD ACLs and CIFS ACLs. From my reading of setfacl(1) I should be able to set group permissions using the syntax of DOMAIN\group-name. For example: #setfacl -d -m g:"MYDOMAIN\mygroupname":rwx test

Bizarre - How did windows user setfacl for a file??
Listmates, In 8 years, since 2.02 (I think), I have never seen this behavior out of samba. I run a stand-alone server with WinXP clients. Somehow a legal assistant created (not intentionally mind you) files and directories with ACL attributes set: -rwxrwx---+ 1 cyndy ochiltree 21504 2008-10-28 16:48 AUTHORIZATION - employment.doc* -rwxrwx---+ 1 cyndy ochiltree 12804 2008-10-28 16:48

Look at this situation: I created a new directory with those ACLs (through Samba using Windows XP) [root@server /home/smb/adm]# getfacl teste #file:teste #owner:1002 #group:1006 user::rwx group::rwx group:suporte:rwx group:administ:rwx mask::rwx other::--- [root@server /home/smb/adm]# getfacl -d teste

solaris 10 winbind authentication with ADS
I'm trying to setup a Solaris 10 Sparc station to authenticate users on login with Windows ADS. I have found the documentation for this but having no luck in getting the pam modules to work. Here is what I have done so far: Compiling Kerberos MIT5-1.8.3: cd into the src directory ./configure --prefix=/opt/local gmake gmake install Compiling Samba 3.5.6: setenv CFLAGS "-O2"

Issue with pam_winbind for MS AD authentication and moduleoptions
Hello! passwd, shadow and group looks as follows in nsswitch.conf: passwd: files winbind shadow: files group: files group What really confuses me is that when my AD server is up and running, root or any local user logs in with no problem. And even when AD server is down, after trying a zillion times, root and other local users login, and then if I log them out and try again a few minutes

SSH and winbind authentication on Solaris 10
I've googled my heart out, but I cannot see an example of ssh authentication with Active Directory and winbindd, particularly on Solaris 10. I have it working on Solaris 8 with telnet, but I'm trying to break my users of telnet. Has anyone got it working? If so, would you be willing to share the global section of your smb.conf and pam.conf with me? Is there something I need to put in one

Trouble authenticating clients from ADS domain on Samba 3.0.5 file server
I'm so close I can feel it :-) I'm having a problem connecting users to their home directories. Under "My Network Places" on XP clients I can see my Samba file server ("Hobbes") just fine. When I double click on it to open it, I get a login/password prompt that I can't bypass even though I try logins/passwords that exist on the ADS server and/or the UNIX accounts.

SSH - Winbind and Keybased Auth
Hi Team, We have a weird issue that we are trying to understand. We have winbind set up and working successfully for user authentication with passwords via ssh. We have pam.d/system-auth-ac and password-auth-ac (symlinked) set to require membership of a group which works great via password authentication. However, if the user has a ssh key set up, they seem to bypass the group membership

Samba Authentication wrecking my head [ADS]
Ive recently installed three servers with RHEL5u5. After some messing on the original, I got samba working with ADS authentication. I then went and got it working so that users could log in using their domain name & password to the box. I got this working with both no restriction, and ADS group restriction. I have left it on no restriction wheil I get these systems up and running. I then
