Hi Andrew,
I have checked for the reason of below error
single_terminate: reason[socket_get_remote_addr() failed]
As mentioned by you earlier that it requires "credentials passing via
the getpeereid()
call or SO_PEERCRED"
On investigating it further i found below condition that fails

The default smbclient doesn't list the files properly either. I've been
romping through the configure script,
and it turns out that certain flags weren't being properly set in
config.h, due to the fact that samba was
being cross-compiled and the test programs couldn't be run. So far,
I've set dev_t to be a u_quad type, and
enabled 64-bit versions of: dirent, ino, off_t,

Auth. Failing... Update - NSSwitch
Yes. Try checking the PAM setup. I have to assume when you say that you
can't log in via something obvious like telnet, you mean that Windows users
can't log in. If your Unix users can't telnet in, you have bigger problems.
:)
The PAM stack is what controls the logging in of Windows users to Unix
services like telnet. There is a document which describes the installation
of winbindd,

Don't install centos8 packages on an centos7 system, it would probably
break some things. Instead -add- the python3 rpms for Centos7.

TLS_CIPHER_SUITE - OpenLDAP connection
Hi,
Thank you for your feedback, Andrew. Since Samba is not the only application making use of the TLS_CIPHER_SUITE negotiation rules in ldap.conf, I would like to ensure that all of them still use the highest encryption possible. Currently I had to remove "TLS_CIPHER_SUITE" as a workarrou d in order to let Samba work wirh LDAP in TLS mode. Does anyone have a suggestion how I can apply

[LLVMdev] FW: A message to post please (EDITED, thanks): "Position available: C / C++ Developer: Compiler & Tools SDK"
Hi,
Hope you can help. Grateful for your time.
I was in touch recently requesting the drop opportunity below be shared
with your distribution list (it was originally declined as hadn't provided
sufficient context about LLVM. I provided the edited version, below, on
27th of January).
Please can you confirm, has this been sent out to your distribution list?
We have not had much response, so

Very strange permissions issue with Samba 3.0.20(a/b)
Hi Guys,
First, thanks for all the hard work! You all rock.
I am running Samba 3.0.20a on RHEL 3 u5 x86, my configuration is working
perfectly except for cvs commits for 3 users. We are using ADS, pam_winbind, and pam_require to authenticate CVS users against AD.
Our CVS directories are mod 2775, and the group ownership of all dirs is
the AD group "DEN-CVS-Users". Every valid user

Re: ACL issues still unresolved (Andrew Furey)
It sounds like smbd isn't linking to the acl libs-have you run ldd against
winbindd to see if it is linking to libacl.so.1?
I recently had very similar symptoms running 2.2.7 under Debian and I found
that I wasn't compiling against the acl libs.
Make sure you have the line (this might work best if you put this line
before --with-msdfs)
--with-acl-support in debian/rules,
Plus you have to

Re: Samba and NUL characters
I've tried CIFS VFS with the following config in my fstab
//cdn-mtl-ms/Logs /mnt/logs cifs username=user,password=pass 0 0
And I still have the same problem. As for kernel versions, the working
one uses "linux-2.4.21-20.EL" and the non-working one uses
"linux-2.6.9-11.EL". Does this have anything to do with "oplock" being
enabled in the kernel? I've

Auth. failing - Update - NSSwitch
Thank you Andrew, you pointed me in the right direction. Part of what I m
doing to try to get Netatalk to authenticate through Winbind was the
following:
4) to install Winbind files:
cp nsswitch/libnss_winbind.so /lib
# this is the major one - solaris nss is different to linux.
ln -s libnss_winbind.so nss_winbind.so.1
cp nsswitch/pam_winbind.so /lib/security
Once I deleted /lib/libnss_winbind.so

Extending the AD schema
Hi Andrew,
Thanks for the info. A backup before hand was always on the to do list. ;)
Any idea when we can expect 4.5? It's looking like this "urgent" project
can be delayed a bit if necessary.
regards,
John
