can't resolve NETBios names
My LAN has a single linux/samba server as a PDC/file server, and several
windows workstations. The workstations get their IP addresses from a Linksys
cable router DHCP server.
I can't get the linux machine to resolve the NETBios names of the windows
machines.

RFC: Elmo will be 1.0
Hi all,
After discussions with Ben about development priorities, it looks
like we''re going to make elmo be 1.0. Puppet is clearly no longer
beta, and it''s time for our version number to reflect that fact.
I''m about to go through the entire ticket database and classify
everything appropriately, so it will be clear what we''re planning on
doing for elmo.

Not appear error message
I have a partial form "empresa". In new.rhtml of "empresa", I call the
partial form of "usuario". Well, it is happening the following: When
save empresa, and stop in validates, as much in "empresa" how much
"usuario", appear only error message of "empresa", and not of "usuario".
Because this happening?

CTI in ActiveRecord
I search an plugin or gem, but don''t find nothing satisfactory. I
believe to be stranger a technology that nails the DRY, have that create
you vary equal tables, instead of using inheritance.
Exists an soluction for this? I want a solution similar to this:
create_table :people |t| do
t.column :name
t.column :address
end
create_table :customer |t| do
t.column :person_id

SSH connection hangs with ipchains/RH6.2/OpenSSH 2.5.1p1 (but not <= 2.3.0p1)
I just recently installed OpenSSH 2.5.1p1 on a RH6.2 box (kernel
2.2.17). I run ipchains to do packet filtering, allowing incoming
connections only to 22 and 80 (and some other ports for specific
machines). I was able to run prior versions of openssh in this fashion
(I've run it from the first release, I think). Upon installing 2.5.1p1
I found that my attempts to connect hang, here is ssh

[Flac-users] Fingerprint Verification Problem
Hi,
Amazing work you folks have been doing!
I don't know if this is the proper place to talk about this, but this looks
like the best place to start!
I've been messing with the latest version of FLAC and as an end-user I have
this problem. The verification process currently does not use the
fingerprint file during verification. So, only the integrity of the FLAC
file is checked.

0.22.4 release candidate
Hi all,
I''m hoping to release 0.22.4 on Monday, so please test now. As
always, if possible please actually run this somewhere in your
infrastructure, in addition to running the unit tests, since there
are always areas that aren''t quite covered with the unit tests.
Hopefully this will be the last point release before the next major
release (elmo).

RFC: Multiple small releases, or one big roll-up?
Hi all,
In looking at the current bug list for elmo[1], it''s pretty clear
that this is a lot of work, and some of it is kind of segmented into
related chunks. Additionally, a good bit of it has an impact on
backward compatibility, although in nearly all cases I expect to be
able to remain entirely or almost entirely backwards compatible.
Given that, would people prefer that I

New Samba PDC for medium-sized mixed client domain
Hi all,
I've recently inherited sysadmin duties for what is currently a
badly-networked hodgepodge of Windows XP and 7 machines (currently about
50, but slowly growing). I would like to tie them to a domain, and we
have a separate requirement for a common staff fileshare. We have a
third-party contractor quoting later this week for what I suspect will
be a Windows Server based network,

PDC and smbpasswd on Solaris 7
Current Setup:
Bunch of Sun SPARCstation's running Solaris 7 in a NIS environment.
I have installed Samba 2.2.5 on a host 'A' (NIS Slave). Basic set up is
working fine.
Meaning, I can mount unix fileshare on windows system.
OBJECTIVE: The idea is to mount some UNIX file systems on Windows at boot
time and make it available to all users
using Windows.

Samba as PDC for WinXP, Win98 and Win95
Hello!
Ive just got the lovely job of converting and old Windows NT 4
fileserver to FreeBSD, ive set up samba before as a simple fileshare but
this place requires roaming profile login from WinXP, Win98 and Win95
clients.
My question is whether or not any of you people have any experience with
this and might be able to give some tips on the way? I've tried fidling
with it but i cant get

Booting from USB
This isn't necessarily a SYSLINUX question, but a probe. Just wondering
if anyone has ever gotten a bootable USB chip to work under linux. I was
able to do it using SYSLINUX and an initrd image, but I would like
something a bit more robust, ... ie: remounting a second ext3fs
partition on the boot chip by being able to have partitions on the usb
chip, syslinux on the mbr, and part 1

Question on docs
Just wondering if there was any documentation other than what's on the
FAQ/webpage?
If not, under the section which says how to be able to use syslinux on a
harddrive, it states, "A simple MBR, roughly on par with the one installed by
DOS (but unencumbered), is included in the SYSLINUX distribution"
How do i install this MBR to the harddrive (in my case, I am using a USB drive

Samba as PDC for WinXP, Win9
Simon,
What version of Windows XP are you using? If your client has purchased
computers from Best Buy or a similar electronics "mega-store" they likely
received WinXP Home Edition. (Which is what it sounds like based upon the
use of Win9x machines you mentioned.)
If that is the case, then you will be unable to get the WinXP machines
to see the Samba Server (or a Windows

Geo replication manual rsync
Hi all,
I have setup a gluster system with geo replication (Centos 7, gluster 3.12).
I have moved about 30 TB to the cluster.
It seems that it goes realy show for the data to be syncronized to geo replication.
It has been active for weeks and still just 9TB has ended up on the slave side.
I pause the replication once a day and make a snapshot with a script.
Does this slow things up?
Is it possible

error when trying to copy file from samba share to old Windows CE share
What i see with google and that error code is.
Windows activation problems due to bad disk/bad sectors.
File copy problems due to wrong rights.
Virus/mailware activity.
And what happens if you change your share to :
[fileshare]
comment = Public Share
path = /share/fileshare
public = no
writable = yes
printable = no
A few thing you can check/try.
