Reconnect behaviour
Hello, Does Samba server have a grace period that allows a client to reopen its files and reacquire locks on them before the locks are given to other clients? If there is no grace period, is there a way for the client to avoid the lock ownerships files if the connection goes away for a short period (say few seconds). Thanks and Regards Sudheer

File lock recovery
Hi, I am having some issues with lock recovery. If a client gets powered off after acquiring an exclusive lock on a file, the Windows server grants the file lock to a second client within 2 minutes. However, the Samba server (version Samba 3.0.28-0.el5.8) that I am having does not look to be detecting the dead client and so, a second client is not getting the lock on the same file even if it

Win10 forcing NTLMSSP when KRB5 desired
Hi all, I've 4.5.1 Samba on a machine with SSSD 1.13.4 setup and joined with a Windows Server 2012 domain. Everything works great for Windows 8.1 - I can connect to the Samba share and get authenticated as a domain user and files are created with the correct Windows domain username and group. With a Windows 10 client, I get an 'Access Denied'. After some debugging, I'm putting

Adding a public static IP address to the guest
Hello, The host runs on CentOS 6. I have installed a guest, CentOS 5.7, using libvirt. I am having difficulty understanding how to assign a public static IP address to the guest. From what I understand by reading the Wiki, I think I require routed mode. The ISP has provided a 'portable' IP routed to the VLAN of our servers. I want to assign this IP address to the guest. From the

Trying to make VHOST-BLK to work
Hi Kernel KVM folks and Michael, I am trying to make VHOST-BLK to work by myself since I did not hear from Asias on my personal mail to him. I will be grateful to you for your time and response. The problem I am seeing is there is no response seen by the VM through the HOST has executed the IO successfully and issued vhost_add_used_and_signal. Here is my question. Which code in QEMU issues

Leopard Macs using Kerberos: Failed to parse negTokenTarg
I think I've found out why MacOS 10.5.x (Leopard) clients are unable to connect to Samba shares when authenticating with Kerberos. Basically, the Leopard Macs insert a few extra bytes (Padding and reqFlags, according to wireshark) into the security blob within the Session Setup AndX Request packet, bytes whose start tag is 0xa1, in a spot where Samba's parser expects 0xa2. The critical

EXT3 + ACL + SAMBA problem
Hi, I 've setup a SAMBA server under ext3 file system which uses the 'ACL' package ( http://acl.bestbits.at/) for restricting users. I've set 'default' permission for some directories using 'setfacl'. Everything works fine but, at times the default permission is not applied to newly created directories or files. I think that SAMBA is innocent in this case

smbmount problems
Hi, I have an NT machine running an application which refreshes a text file every minute or so with fresh data. The directory containing this file is shared so that I can do an smbmount. I have a linux machine which runs a program to interpret this file. When the program starts up, it does smbmount of the remote directory. I am able to see the file but there is a very visible propagation
