Mutiple authentication databases with Samba in ADS mode
I have Samba with Kerberos in server = ads mode. I however, have a few odd accounts that only exist under Unix. Is it possible to get samba to "fall back" on the local smbpassword file for users not found in ADS? If so how? Thanks

ADS security mode - authenticating non-domain Linux users
Have you tried using domain\user to log in? That should work if this is the problem. Am 5. 3.5.5, ADS mode, user authentication syntax
All, I'm in the process of migrating a samba server from Solaris 10 (running 3.0.37) to Solaris 11 Express (running 3.5.5). The system is joined to a Win2k3 Active Directory. Migrating the configuration worked fine, the shares are available and everything mostly works as intended. The problem we're having is with the syntax of authentication requests from Windows client machines. On the

How to Samba share with mixed Active Directory 'Classic' authentication
Uhhh, what is wrong with how Active Directory is running? I have plenty of machines that are and are not attached to various NT-style and AD-style domains, hosted by Samba, and I can access the files I want. ADS security mode - authenticating non-domain Linux users
Hi All, We've been beating our heads against a problem here with a new Samba server that we're trying to bring into production, and I'm hoping that the members of this list can provide some insight. Our server is on a Linux CentOS 7.6, Samba version 4.8.3 installed from distribution packages. Our clients are a mixture of Windows, Mac, and Linux systems. Most of these clients are

How to Samba share with mixed Active Directory 'Classic' authentication
I have a Samba4 AD Domain with one of the file servers as a domain member. This file server host the main network shares for the domain. Currently, Windows users mapping this share are authenticated using their AD domain credentials. That all works just fine. What I want to do now is ALSO allow a user on a network host which IS NOT a domain member, and the user is not domain users to also

REPOST: Changing from Mixed mode to pure Active Directory
I need to move a Samba 2.2.1 server form a Windows 2000 Domain network that is currently running in Mixed mode with a domain name if "ABC" to a pure Windows 2000 Active Directory network with a domain of "ABC.net". Do I need to do anything other than change the domain controller name listed in the password server property in the smb.conf? Thanks! Devin M. Rader, MCP

Samba 2.0.x and a "Mixed Mode" Server 2003 domain environment
I've recently upgraded our PDC to Server 2003, it's running in mixed mode with a BDC running NT 4.0 (for now) We're using samba 2.0.X for some legacy network shares, and a print spool... I am encounting some issues on a couple computers where these samba shares, upon first login work just fine, but after an unspecified period of time (1 hour? 6 hours?) the shares become

samba-3 trustdom AD (mixed mode) problem
Hi, I want to get my SAMBA-3.0.0 domain to trust W2K AD (mixed mode) both ways. I don't want to make my samba box an AD member, just trust it. Samba-PDC uses ldap as passdb. winbind isn't used. WINS server is running in W2K PDC server. Also created a machine account entry to LDAP base, set samba I flag. Here we go (using mmc @ w2k PDC): I add my samba domain to "Domains trusted by

10 X Linux boxes - join win2k AD (mixed mode)
Hi All, I'd like to know your views on the following: I have around 10 Linux servers, any that run samba or on version 2.2.* they have there own smbpasswd files, but are within the same win2k browse domain. I'd like to upgrade to samba 3.0.* and currently use openldap to authenticate Unix users to any of the Linux boxes. I'd like to get rid of using multiple smbpasswd files, and

Mixed success with Samba 3.0.28 and ADS
Hi. I'm running FreeBSD with Samba 3.0.28 and have had success previously with FreeBSD and an earlier version of Samba, and am in the process of setting up a member server to act as a file server using the above combination. I have created a kerberos ticket, and successfully joined the domain: ksm-smb# net ads join -UAdministrator%password Using short domain name -- END-DESIGN Joined

Mixed mode import problem
First question: I have an Excel file with both character and numeric variables that I want to import to a data.frame, so I've saved the data to a tab-delimited text file. read.table : * Won't identify the mode of my character variables, as some of them contain only numbers and none of them are surrounded by quotes, * Won't allow me to specify the mode of my variables, * Doesn't

How do I use a username/password plain text file as authentication backend?
I only have a single user (with multiple mail addresses) and I don't want to expose local users (no pam or /etc/passwd). Using a SQL database seems like overkill to me. So why not just a plain text file? Well, I've read http://wiki2.dovecot.org/PasswordDatabase/Static and related wiki pages, but I just can't find a clear answer. I certainly don't want to allow "any user"

Unified authentication
Greetings. Apologies if this has been asked before. I've gone through Google and the archives to no avail. I am seeking to implement a unified authentication mechanism for a small(Less than 50 users) setup. I've been trying to wrap my head around PAM and SAMBA. It almost seems like it can be done, but I can't quite convince myself. Most of my users are Windows

1.6 and asterisk gui
Hello, I'm new to asterisk and this list. The ISO download appears to have 1.6 with the FreePBX GUI but I am looking to use the Asterisk GUI. The only option for the Asterisk GUI is to use 1.4. Is it as simple as installing 1.6 only then using the yum repository to install the Asterisk GUI? If so, what packages are needed? Thanks!
