Problem: User authentication stopped working
Hi
I have several Samba servers which have been running for almost two
years without any problem.
Recently I rebooted one of those servers and have the following
problem: the join to the domain is OK but all user authentications
fail. I mean nobody can "connect" a share.
The system I rebooted is half of a two node cluster, the other
node with exactly the same configuration, up 230 days,

Win7 - Samba 3.5.4 trust relationship
Hello all,
I guess that everyone knows the message "the trust relation between this
workstation and the primary domain failed" when joining Win7 into samba
domain. Unfortunately, the same problem appeared few hours/days after the
machine was successfully joined in the domain(with reg keys from
https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Windows7) and user able to use it for
awhile. Then at

Problems mapping users' names
All,
I've recently upgraded my Samba server from 2.2.8 to 3.0.1. I also changed the
security option to "security=Domain" and added it to the AD domain. The issue
that I am having is that some users cannot access a share that is accessible to
group members only, even though they are in the group. It appears that certain
users on certain machines have a hard time mapping the

Samba 3.0 Problem
I have Samba setup as a Domain Controller for the domain AROS-NG. I
have a Network Appliance that I was able to get to talk to the Samba
PDC and it appears to be happy cause I am able to pull up user accounts
from the Samba PDC. I am also able to log into XP using the Samba PDC.
The only wierd thing that happens is when I try to access the share
from the NetApp I get denied. The Netapp gives

I've just upgraded Samba on Solaris 10 from the bundled version (3.0.33)

Is Samba PDC + NT4 DOM Trust using NTLMv2 possible?
My Question:
------------
Is it possible to get 2-way Interdomain Trust relationships working between a Samba domain and an
NT4 SP6a domain, while restricting all password hashes to NTLMv2 only?
Everything works except the inter-domain trust
I'm able to get the NT4 domain to trust the Samba domain, but not the other way around.

mount.cifs and sec=krb5
Hello fellow Samba folks,
I am attempting to mount a cifs share on a RHEL 5 box using
mount.cifs. The server is another RHEL 5 box. Both boxes are joined
to the same Kerberos realm (AD).
I kinit to get my Kerberos tickets.
This is the mount command I'm using:

This results in a password prompt, then a

Please help with Samba on Solaris10
Hi
I'm having lots of problems getting Samba to work on Solaris.
First I tried the version which comes with Solaris10: 3.0.30.
It almost did work, but a user could not _rename_ files.
Next try was with 3.4.0. Unfortunately winbindd tried to _modify_ idmap
entries in my LDAP server to make them be from the UID range defined in smb.conf.
WHY? What's the idea behind it?
Winbindd also

when I try to connect to the problem server with the following

samba3 and kerberos authentication of users
Hi all,
this is probably VFAQ, but I never found a working solution. I have a
standalone samba server running samba ver. 3. In the network, we have
heimdal kerberos used to authenticate users for pop3,imap,web-based
applications etc. Now I would like to make the samba communicating with
kerberos kdc so there will no longer be users in smbpasswd with separate
passwords outside of kerberos.
