idmap uid allocation problem
Hi, we've had a machine happily authenticating to an ADS domain for
about a year now, and it's recently stopped working (possibly due to
changes in the domain or a samba upgrade, unfortunately I'm not sure).
We're using an ldap idmap backend running on the local machine.
Now though, new domain users can't log in. Running "wbinfo -i newuser"
returns an error.

Pre-3.023d-Bug in ACL-handling reappears in 3.026a

# wbinfo -Y S-1-5-13

(S-1-5-11 are the Authenticated Users, S-1-5-13 are the Terminal Server

This bug was finally solved in release 3.023d.
Now it is back again.
How can I get this working?
I'm using idmap/tdb - would another idmap-module solve this issue?

idmap_ad and multiple domians
Has anyone else gotten samba functioning with idmap_ad and multiple domains?
In our environment we have a domain with two child domains. There is one child
domain for students, and another for faculty staff. Our servers are joined to
the student domain, but need to be able to enumerate users in the staff domain.

stop winbind writes to disk
I'm trying to eliminate disk read/writes (as much as possible). Winbind is
one of the last problems for me. I was hoping that the -n switch would
disable caching and thus eliminate the writes to
/var/cache/samba/winbindd_cache.tdb. But I haven't had much luck.
To debug, I use the command string winbindd -i -d10 -n -s
/etc/samba/smb.conf and I get the following output:

idmap_nss: Default domain not being used
I have an existing PDC which I am attempting to move across to a new
server. On the new server, I'm having trouble with idmap (using an LDAP
backend) and trusted domains. The smb.conf file is the same on both
servers. My idmap & winbind parameters are as follows:
ldap idmap suffix = ou=idmap
idmap backend = ldap:ldap://127.0.0.1
idmap uid = 10000-29000
idmap gid = 10000-29000

Problems resolving most users with winbind and AD/SFU
Hello all,
I'm having a problem with Winbind resolving some users from AD on a W2KSP4
server running SFU 3.5 [8.0.1969.1]. All users and groups in the AD domain
have been assigned UIDs and GIDs via SFU. The Linux fileserver is running
CentOS 5.3 with Samba 3.0.33-3.7.el5. The fileserver has been joined to the
domain using authconfig with proper modifications made to nsswitch and pam.

wbinfo returns no domain users
Hi,
I've spent two days trying to figure out how to solve this,
researching on the web, etc, and found no answer... :S
I've setup a Ubuntu 9.04 with Samba and Winbind, joined the domain
(using RPC) and when I try to list users and groups using wbinfo I got
nothing.
I already tryed deleting tdb files from /var/lib/samba and restarting
samba and winbind, joined the domain again,

Winbind issue
All,
After upgrading to samba 3.0.30 on gentoo amd64 because of my recent
best friend CVE-2008-1105
My winbind daemon is 'hanging up', and refusing to respond to pings
after a few minutes of activity.
Wbinfo -u, getent passwd all work successfully, then after a bit wbinfo
-p just tells me winbind dies.
I have 3.0.30/winbind on another machine, also amd64 that is working....

winbind problem?
Hello list,
I have recently updated SAMBA with samba 3.0.20a RPM on suse 9.1 because
I needed to add it to a windows 2003 domain. I was able to join the
machine to the domain and to setup smb.conf to where I can map files
with domain users and domain groups.
The problem I am having is connecting to the server. When I try to go to
\\server <file:///\\server> I get prompted for
