Access Denied when connect to samba box
Hi!
I have MS domain, based on MS Windows 2000 Server. I successfully joined
my samba box (Linux 2.5.53, Samba 2.2.4) to domain via smbpasswd -j
DOMAIN -r DC -Uuser%pwd.
So when I try to open Samba box via network neighbornhood I got pop-up
window with inputs of username and password, I tape valid values and got
this popup again. In samba log I see this:

net rpc vampire
Ok folks, here goes:
We have an old NT4 machine that we wish to replace as the PDC on our network.
In it's place, we've got a dual xeon box with Mandrake LE2005 and Samba
3.0.13-2 and I'm currently trying to draw the accounts over with vampire. I'm
using tdbsam as a backend.
I've been through several readme's and howto's and have created all the UNIX
accounts,

password problem -- or bug?
A Redhat 6.0 linux server with Samba 2.0.6, Windows 95/98 clients.
By accident I just discovered a surprising and quite disappointing
password problem on our Samba network.
If a user on our network has a non-empty Windows password,
he is forced to supply his password to log in to the network and
gain writing privilegies -- as expected.
However, if the user has an empty Windows password, he is

Problem trying to join SAMBA as a Domain Member
Hello,
I am working on RHEL4 update 5, using SAMBA 3.0.26a.
I am trying to configure SAMBA as a domain member in a Win2K domain. I am
using Kerberos authneticiaon (Security = ADS).
I am getting an error when I am trying to join the domain (this is the
output I get from running ?net ads join ?Uuser%password ?d10?:

Samba + AD etc.
Hi all...
Im at the stage where:
Kinit works
Net ads join -U Administrator works (I can see the computer in AD)
Net ads user works
Wbinfo -u / -g / -t works
Getent passwd/group works
What I cannot seem to get working is when someone logs onto the domain, and
then tries to map a drive to the samba server, its like the credentials
arent getting passed onto samba, or rather samba is unable to look

testing a 2000 queues print server with smbtorture
Hi everyone,
I'm very interested in samba testing subject. Because I need to plan a
samba/cups/linux 2000 queues print server migration from W2K. But before that, I
wanted to generate the service load before listen users claiming the server is
running under a low performance. Somebody knows a good test set to simulate
printing share connections from clients in my print server using

Is there any limitation in cn field length??
Hello:
I'm using samba4.1.0pre1.
I'm having some issues with users whose cn field length is shorter than 5
characters in specific with the openfire server (jabber server).
It was working fine when I had a windows 2003 server as a domain
controller and once I migrated to samba4, users with short cn fields get
an authentication error: Not authorized.
Is there any limitation on the length

Getting share list without password.
Hi.
samba-1.9.18p8 using security = user. All the stuff runs good. But I want a
cosmetic customization.
I want to be able to get the list of shares on the linux box w/out having to
fill in a password (same as winBoxes do):
smbclient -L linuxbox -U user -N
Should not prompt for password. But in fact, it does. I supposed this could be
produced by a wrong guest account. I have 'guest account

Connect to MySQL monitor on another host in the LAN ?
Hi,
I'm running a medical application on a local network, using MySQL as a
database. The application can also connect to remote hosts, so the idea
is to install it on one machine acting as a "server", and then install
it on the other machines on the LAN, but configure these to use the
database on the "server". I guess before doing that, I'll better try and

Hi there,
I'm quite new to Dovecot, but already can tell that it is a really
great work, congrats to the developers!
But I'm having a little problem and couldn't figure it out how to solve.
First, let me talk about my setup:
I'm running Debian 5 (Lenny) with it's default Dovecot (common, pop3
and imap) packages (version 1:1.0.15-2.3+lenny1), I really would like

SCP v. SFTP
I was comparing some traces from SCP and SFTP when transferring the same
file 200MB file between the same host pairs. Even when I put SFTP in
batch mode I noticed that I saw 403208 bytes from the receiver in
comparison to 3368 bytes with SCP. I've attached the relevant output
from tcptrace below (the b->a column is the return side of the trace).
Mostly I'm just curious as to what
