2003 KDC and Samba
We have serveral RHEL 3.0 Update 2 servers running Samba.
These have been working flawlessly for several months..
Recently, the base upgraded all the Windows 2000 servers
to Windows 2003..
NOTE: we don't have admin rights to the Domain Controllers.. (wish we did..)
Previous to the Domain (and kdc) controllers to 2003 we had
no issues joining a new Samba Sever to the ADS..

Can't join machines to a Samba PDC using LDAP
I've been trying to do this for days, and I think I'm really close. It's
become one of those so-close-yet-so-far sorts of things. I'm running
Gentoo -- all sync'ed up and current as of a week ago -- with the
following package versions:
openldap-2.1.30-r5
pam_ldap-178-r1
nss_ldap-239-r1
smbldap-tools-0.9.1-r1
phpldapadmin-0.9.5 (very cool, I must say!)

boot statictic fn for dual estimation of 2 stats?
Hi,
I am trying to use boot() to refit an ordinal logit (polr in MASS) model.
(A very basic bootstrap which samples from the data frame without
replacement and updates the model.)
I need to extract two statistics per run (the coefficients and zeta) and I
tried concatenating them into a single vector after fitting, but I get the
following error:

Firefox fails to authenticate .mil sites with New DoD CAC
Can anyone help with getting the new DoD CACs (Smart Card) to work in
CentOS 6.6? I don't use it for console logins, only for email and .mil
web sites.
I recently had to get a new DoD CAC (Smart Card) when one of the
buildings I work in upgraded their security system. My old CAC was
working fine prior to this for signing and encrypting email and for
authenticating to various DoD (.mil) sites

db pkgs
Hi,
I am wondering if anyone has had experience w/the R database
packages: RMySQL, RODBC, RPgSQL, and/or RmSQL, and if so, if you have
any recommendations to make. We have some large tables we would like to
store -- something like 5-10 columns by 3.5 mil rows (or maybe 7 mil
rows).
thanks,

Add pool.ntp.org to TipsAndTricks/Server_Time
Hey
I would like to add the URL http://www.pool.ntp.org/ to the wiki entry

Just something like:
If you don't want to use navy.mil you can find a ntp server near you

AD Group lost from Winbind
This looks all good to me but the problem lays in the DC winbind code, not the member.
You can try to witch back ( temperarly ) to winbind ( on the DC )
As i did, al least you get the correct id's back. ( for now )
For you this the change you need on the DC.
server services = -winbindd +winbind
Im recompiling the samba 4.3.3 from sid now atm, so ill test them out what happpens.

Status of samba packages in Debian
It's been some time since I didn't send an update about samba packages
in Debian. Here it is. Fairly long, sorry for this.
As preliminary facts: Debian entered a full freeze in Mid-August, in
preparation of the next release, codename "squeeze". It means that
packages uploaded to Debian unstable no longer migrate to testing
(which is "the next release", so squeeze right

graphics: per mil plus delta notation
Hello All,
I am looking for some help with was is probably very simple:
I want the y-axis title '$B&D(B13C$B"s(B VPDB' and similarly for nitrogen on a
secondary axis. I am able to get the delta notation and per mil notation
separately but one messes up the other with the inclusion of quotations:
ylab=expression("{delta}^13*C \211 VPDB")
gives the per mil just fine but

I'm going to using RInside on windows enviroment. I installed all tools and packages according to Dirk's instruction.

xen 2.6.26 on amd64 console troubles
I just installed xen-linux-system-2.6.26-1-xen-amd64 2.6.26-7 on a
freshly installed Debian Lenny AMD64 system, and when I create a
Debian Lenny DomU with xen-tools I cannot attach to a console nor log
in with SSH. When running
# xm create -c test.cfg
the system starts booting, but it seems to "freeze" after the kernel has booted.
Googling a bit, shows that I seem to have the problem

Featurerequest for nsd4
Hello Wouter,
We used tinydns for many years. After migration to nsd3 we miss only one feature present in tinydns only:
tinydns may switch addresses by decreasing the ttl for old data and serve new data
starting from a fixed timestamp.
http://cr.yp.to/djbdns/tinydns-data.html:
You may include a timestamp on each line. If ttl is nonzero (or omitted),
the timestamp is a starting time for the

Winbind 3.2.3 error with trusted domains
With Samba on Debian Lenny joined to a Server 2003 Native domain that has two incoming non-transitive trusts (users in my domain can authenticate to the foreign domains, but their users cannot authenticate to us) winbind is taking a very long time to authenticate or list users the first time it is used after starting. Winbind blocks for four to five minutes, and anything that touches winbind will

W2K Server and Workstation can't join SMB/LDAP domain
I have a SMB Domain set up with a PDC and BDC. The BDC is joined to the PDC
domain fine and shows up in the LDAP directory.
I can add and delete users to the LDAP directory. I can use the user
accounts to access the Linux boxes. My W2K boxes see the domain and domain
servers when browsing. I can access the shared drive on the PDC.
I cannot join the Windows servers to the domain. I get an error

NFSv4, homes, Kerberos...
Thank you for that, i did have a good look at that one.
And i use Debian 9, if you test what i posted below in the thread, you will see NFSv4 works fine.
Below is missing one more thing, the "allow to delegate (kerberos only) " on the computer object in the AD, should be enabled.
And yes, i've see bugchecks also but only on my debian .. Lenny.. Stt.. ;-) .. Its my last lenny
