samba print server client job queues.
Hello,
I'm working on setting up a corporate print server with samba
3.2.0-2.17 on a Fedora 9 install. I've been able to get the services up
and running and added several printers via the cups interface, also
been able to upload the windows drivers. This all works well, printing
also works well.
The problem that I am running into is that the old print jobs
seem to be getting stored

Laptops randomly losing their domain credentials
I'm having a randomly occurring problem with some of the laptops that
we maintain. They are joined to our Samba domain (samba-3.0.14a-1).
Every once in a while when they are disconnected from the local network
they will drop their cached domain passwords and will not allow the
user to log back into the computer. It will return a domain unavailable
error until it is plugged back into the

How do you create a tree strucutre with ActiveRecord
I want to build an application that has the concept of administrative
domains. What I mean by this is that administrators have access to
different data, based on what domains they are a member of. The domain
strucutre is hierarchical. Here is an example:
- MLB
- AL
- East
- Yankees
- Red Sox
...
+ Central
+ West
- NL

samba 3.4.7 as NT4 domain member and win9x
I'm certain i'm just missing something and haven't hit the right
search terms yet, however, the terms I've been trying all lead to
others with the same problems and no solutions at all.
My network is quite legacy, but has been working:
nt4 PDC and BDC
several samba file servers, various revisions
DOS, Win95, Win98, NT4, 2k, xp clients
I have an ubuntu 9.04 32bit samba 3.3.2

Samba, Kerberos, Autofs: Shares get disconnected
Dear Rowland
of course, if the network is unreachable, this is also a problem for
autofs. However, when a CIFS share is in the fstab and the network is
unreachable, you cannot boot, as it waits forever to mount all your fstab
entries, whereas with autofs, you can still boot, as there is nothing
really mounted yet.
I show you below my configurations of the server and client machines.

Replicating Windows Inheritance
Hello All,
I have been spending a bit of time playing around with trying to get permission
inheritance to work in a similar way to what our Windows team is used to with
their Windows servers.
The behaviour I am after is to following:
1. Create a new folder
2. Select the new folder and go to Properties -> Security -> Advanced
3. Tick the "Inherit from parent the permission

Can only login from Windows, when not a domain member
Hi,
I have set up Samba 3.0.1 to work as a Domain Member. Security is ADS.
"wbinfo -a User%Pass" works for the ADS users, winbind works as well.
"wbinfo -t" is ok as well.
When I try to connect to the computer from windows, it is only
successful, when I am not logged in as a member of the domain like
"domain\user" but logged in as a local user on the windows box

After a reboot, 'id username' (where username is an AD account) returns

A 'systemctl restart winbind' and voila! 'id username' shows what it
should.
I've been looking into the files in
/etc/systemd/system/multi-user.target.wants/
