Questions about PDC with SAMBA
Hi!
I have 8 subnets:
192.168.100.x/24
192.168.150.y/24
192.168.200.z/16
etc ...
Install a Primary Domain Controller (PDC), so that
users to perform authentication on the domain with its mounting
remote disks, among others. The network is correctly configured,
that is, the teams are perfectly by "ping" and the open
ports between the networks see no problems.
Notes:

How to access one machine behind iptables, on different subnet?
Hi all,
I wonder if someone can help me with this: The setup is as follows:
192.168.1.254 - wireless ADSL modem, with DHCP pool on 192.168.100 - 192.168.200
192.168.1.250 - Linux firewall RED interface
192.168.2.250 - Linux firewall GREEN interface.
There are some normal LAN clients behind the Linux firewall's GREEN
interface, which can all access each other's shared services and also

How do update samba on Ubuntu
Hi all, I?ve got an ubuntu 8.04 server with samba 3.0.28 and ldap installed
in a net that is working ok.
I?d like to actualize samba to the actual version and don?t know how.
Sudo apt-get upgrade will do?
I?ve read in internet that some people uninstall it and it really scares me!
If someone have any idea about how to do it and can give me a link or some
clue about it, I really will apreciate it!

Windows stations don't recognize each other
Hi, I?ve got this problem and can?t find a solution. Maybe someone from the
list have experienced something similar and can help me.
I?ve made a migration from a NT server to ubuntu + samba +openldap with
vampire. In the beggining it worked ok, the problem I?ve got now is that
work stations XP can?t share resources (neither folders or printers )
between each other. When trying the access, it

Some Netbios Name Lookups Exhibit Long Delay

solution... I don't see anything in my Google searches or in the
O'Reilly troubleshooting section.

Any pointers for multiple subnets?
Hi,
I am trying to have some routing done between two subnets. One is
192.168.1.0/24 and has my LAN computers running a mix of Windows 98/XP
clients. There are two linux machines on this network running Samba.
Another is 192.168.0.0/24 and has the other LAN. Only my linux machines
have two NICs, one for each LAN.
I am trying out one of these linux machines to be the gateway for both

2 samba servers on different subnets
Hi All
Network #1 has been running successfully for a year using Samba as a PDC and
file share with roaming profiles for about a dozen Windows XP clients.
I have just set up Network #2 and would now like to give these clients access
to the file share on Network #1 (via the Tinc VPN)... AND... still keep a
local PDC with roaming profiles.

DNS and Reverse Adresses
Hi,
I do have a domain and a couple of different ip networks.
E.g. domainname.de and 172.17.0.0/16 and 192.168.200.0/24
In our old dns files I only have a reverse master zone for the
172.17.-lans, but also 192.168.200.x addresses in the forward zone config.
My question: dose maybe someone forgot the 192.168.200.x reverse zone
files and config and can I just create a file like that for the

Multiple subnets, multiple domains and one LDAP
Hi all.
I'm being asked to connect two networks, each having it's own PDC
and it's own LDAP backend. I would like to know if it's possible to make
both PDC's serve each a different domain with a single LDAP backend and
having users from DOMAIN1 roaming to DOMAIN2 and viceversa.
If it's of any use I have, in the past, set up a PDC+BDC
configuration having

combine lattice plot and standard R plot
Dear R users,
I would like to combine lattice plot (xyplot) and standard R plot (plot and plotCI) in an unique figure.
I use the function "par()" to combine plot and plotCI and I use the function "print()" to combine xyplot. I tried to use these functions to combine xyplot and plotCI and plots but they do not work. Does anybody know how I can do this?
Thank you very much in

If so, what monthly costs am I looking at? I do know that Cable and

Getting Annual (Conditional) Averages
Hello,
I'm very new to R, and so my question is simple.
I have data record with 80 years of daily temperatures in one long
string. The dates are also recorded, in YYMMDD format. I'd like to
learn an elegant simple way to pull out the annual averages.
(Obviously, every 4th year has 366 days.)
I know I can set up a formal loop to create annual records and then
average. But R

offset in gam and spatial scale of variables
Hi,
We are analizing the relationship between the abundance of groupers in line
transects and some variables. We are using the quasipoisson distribution. Do
we need to include the length of the transects as an offset if they all have
the same length??
Also, can we include in the gam models variables that are measured at
different spatial scales? We have done an analysis to see what variables
