netbios alias and AD trouble
Hello there I've got two samba servers srv1 and srv2 smb.conf for srv1: netbios aliases srv1-alias smb.conf for srv2: netbios aliases srv2-alias DNS is configured all right and resolves the names. Each name has got its own IP address. Both servers are AD members, run as expected and can be connected to via their netbios and netbios alias names. If, for example, srv1 fails I want to add

I'm setting up a new Samba 4 Domain on a Debian Jessie machine. The dc works. Now I'm trying to setup a fileserver following the samba wiki. winbind is running on both machines, getent and wbinfo show the users and groups of the domain. However, when I try net rpc rights list accounts -U"MYDOM\Administrator" Enter MYDOM\Administrator's password: Could not connect to server

Ok, but you changed your hosts file :-p You removed 127.0.1.1 .. .. So now then, whats wrong here... >/etc/resolv.conf points to the dc as a nameserver > >search mydom.lan >nameserver IP.of.my.dc > >/etc/hosts >127.0.0.1 localhost >xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx fs.mydom.lan fs > ># The following lines are desirable for IPv6 capable hosts >::1 localhost ip6-localhost

Hai Rowland, his setup is ok. Im guessing this has todo with your dhcp options or resolvconf settings or dhcpclient settings or nsswitch.conf resolv order is changes. Or did you change /etc/hosts.conf to bind, hosts Its one of the above ;-) Greetz, Louis > -----Oorspronkelijk bericht----- > Van: samba [mailto:samba-bounces at lists.samba.org] Namens Rowland penny > Verzonden:

Setup of Samba with Solaris 11.3 to provide Unix File Shares to Windows Users
Dear Rowland, our windows admin assured me that they have set uidNumber and gidNumber in the range. I have requested screenshots for confirmation. Now we are one step further: "getent passwd | grep mdecker" now lists the AD account. mdecker:*:13667:7142:Decker, Martin:/home/MYDOM/mdecker:/bin/false With "getent passwd mdecker" however, it shows

Hello, I have now set up a new Windows Server 2012 R2 and configured as an AD. "kinit administrator" works. Now when I try to accept the AD with a Samba DC I still get the following error message: samba-tool domain join mydom.local DC -U "MYDOM\ dministrator" INFO 2019-07-20 16: 55: 53,030 pid: 1280 /usr/local/samba/lib/python3.6/site-packages/samba/join.py # 103: Finding a

I've upgraded in the classic way described in the wiki https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Migrating_a_Samba_NT4_domain_to_a_Samba_AD_do main_(classic_upgrade) I don't have any unix users between 99 and 65534 so i think can set the range to start from 500. However, this still won't work :( On Dec 6 2016, at 10:01 am, Rowland Penny via samba <samba at

unable to join AD domain: Failed to parse cldap reply
I have a suse 10.2 system, that runs the latest samba version, Suse provides for 10.2: 3.0.23d-6 After a long time I had to join that system to an AD domain. Unfortunately that did not work as expected. net ads join -U DE7B07K0@WW901.MYDOM.NET -d4 asks for a password, but then it fails with: ...
