pdbedit "password must change" not following policy
Hey everyone, I've got a file server (named success) running Samba version 3.0.10-1.4E. I've also got another file server (named happiness) running Samba version 3.3.15 and LDAP. I've got success pointed to happiness for LDAP in the smb.conf, and running a "pdbedit -v user" works, it shows the proper information...except for the password must expire, it seemingly ignores

deleted fat32, added linux, formated ext3 ... mount detects as fat and I get FS-panic
Hi... I decided to delete my fat32 partition (sda1, with win2k on it). I did that with fdisk and added a linux partition, then formated it with "mkfs -t ext3 /dev/sda1" ... Everything seemed to work fine... I can even mount it with "mount -t ext3 /dev/sda1 /mnt" ... but there seem to be some fat32 rubbish left because when I do "mount /dev/sda1 /mnt" it seems to

pdbedit and password expiration
I have been working to get pdbedit to expire passwords. I have seen several bugs related to pdbedit (bugzilla bug 4630 for example) on 3.0.25 so I upgraded to 3.0.25a, the latest Samba version as of this writing. What I am trying to do is set a particular user's password to expire on a certain date. If that can't be done, the ability to set it to expire "now" would be my

complexity of operations in R
Hello! I am optimizing my code in R and for this I need to know a bit more about the internals. It would help tremendously if someone could link me to a page with O()-complexities of all the operations. In this particular case, I need something like a linked list with O(1) insertLast/First ability. I can't preallocate a vector since I do not know the final size of the list ahead of time. The

Password must change: 0
Hi all, I'm trying to create a domain user in USRMGR.EXE. The samba account will have its property "Password must change" set to 0. this results in the user not being able to access shares if he has been never logged in before. smbclient will return NT_STATUS_PASSWORD_MUST_CHANGE after logon. in USRMGR.EXE, it is impossible to uncheck the checkbox for "password must

Get PasswordMustChangeNow parameter from command line
I am adapting a script that needs to know whether a user needs to change their password on the next login from NT to AD with Samba. I have tried "samba-tool user getpassword <user> --attributes PwdMustChangeNow", but that's not giving me anything useful - just a DN, and "Got password OK" (even on users that do need the password to change). Is there another line I

Roaming profiles and USRMGR.EXE
I'm using Samba 3.0.22 on Ubuntu 6.06.1 as PDC for our Windows workstations. The passdb backend is tdbsam. I want to employ roaming profiles and due to the fact that we have a mixed Windows environment (Windows 2000 Pro and Windows XP Pro) I have the following entry in my smb.conf: logon path = \\%L\profiles\%U\%a Basically, this works fine. If a user is working on a W2k workstation, his

[Urgent] Cannot make changes via pdbedit
I have been having some problems since I updated from Samba 3.0.23 to 3.0.25b. I have installed the latest version of smbldap-tools but I am still not able to make certain changes to a user's account. I have created a new user named JROLFE. After I set up a new user, I will set it so they are required to change their password when they first login. I usually do this through LDAP Account

Samba3beta3 + PDC + LDAP + UsrMgr.exe prob
Heya all, So I've finally got a machine on this Samba 3 domain. Yey. Its an XP Pro box, so I grabbed the UsrMgr.exe and SrvMgr.exe programs from Microsoft, and hoped to at least use UsrMgr to see lists of users, maybe even as a full User manager, since I can't find a decent one that does all the samba3 stuff. Anyway, I'm on the domain, and I run the UsrMgr.exe program and I get an

srvtools (Usrmgr.exe) : strange problem
Hello everybody. I have noted a strange problem when using Usrmgr.exe (from srvtools). The problem arise when a net groupmap is done on a group for which a user exist with the same name that the specified unixgroup. For example, lets say that I have the following UNIX user and group create on my Samba server : joe (in /etc/group) joe (in /etc/passwd) Now I create the following map : net

Acces denied with usrmgr.exe
Hi I am trying to use usrmgr.exe in order to manage users and groups on my samba server PDC (passdb backend = tdbsam ) . I have the following strange behavior of usrmgr.exe : * when I launch usrmgr.exe from a user account that is part of the Domain Admins group or that explicitly has the SeAddUsersPrivilege privilege, I can see the list of users and groups , and create a new user, BUT when I

Reloading in usrmgr.exe
usrmgr.exe administration works for me. However, sometimes it is necessary to reopen the domain up to couple of times until the administration starts working. Allegedly also it's not necessary to press F5-reload after adding an user on Windows NT. However didn't test it, never used Windows NT for adding users on an Windows NT DC :) With Samba, I always have to press F5-reload in

Making unix system accounts invisible in USRMGR.EXE
I have a Samba (3.0.22) server (working on Ubuntu 6.06.1) acting as NT PDC. My passdb backend is tdbsam. I'm using USRMGR.EXE from Microsoft for user account administration. In USRMGR.EXE I see all accounts, unfortunately also Ubuntu's system accounts (like proxy, sync, sshd etc.). Is there any way to make them invisible for USRMGR.EXE? Cheers B.

Samba 3.0, Windows 2k/XP and usrmgr.exe
Hi there I've just finished setting my first Samba PDC for 120ish users and so far so good, although its only been live for 2 days!! One problem I've come across (actually I had loads but the HOW-TO, Samba archive and google solved most of them) is with usrmgr. There is one XP client that I have installed the NT 4 Server Tools software on for the school IT coordinator (note the phrase

usrmgr.exe does not show any Samba groups
Hi, We are running samba 3.0.28 on RHEL 5 as a PDC serving around 1000 active users . This domain was vampired from aWindows NT 4 domain a few years ago. OpenLDAP 2.2.13 is used as the back end user database. One of the problems we have is that usrmgr.exe does not display any groups. I can use usrmgr to create users, delete users and create groups. But I cannot use it to delete groups

Question about USRMGR.EXE and user profiles.
Hello, I am trying to find and easy way for end users to add Samba accounts to a Linux server. Some of my end users are schoot teachers, and they have to add tens of students to their Samba servers. I have a running Linux with Samba, configured upon the directions of Samba-3 by example, chapter 3, "Secure Office Networking", this is Samba with tdbsam, not LDAP. I can create accounts
