Invalid workgroup name in browse list
On my PDC, which is also the DMB, there is a duplicate entry for a trusted
domain that is run on an AD controller on the same ethernet segment. The
duplicate, though, has several spaces after the name (from browse.dat):
"BROADWAY" 80001000 "CALIMERO" "BROADWAY"
"BROADWAY " 80001000 "CALIMERO"

Let this be a note for everyonein the future then. When using mp3s i don't think
there is a --enable-mp3-updates (I think it worked by default for me), yet if using ogg
vorbis you must compile icecast2 with --enable-vorbis-updates in order to update the
song/title id3 metadeta (Instructions on how to do so with `curl' are below). If I was
using ogg I may have been of more use, yet I

basics: changing the directory
Dear Ms. R,
I struggle with a very basic command for most of you: How to change the
working-directory by command-line?
Thank you!

You did not type the exact string I told you to first of all. You forgot to use the 's after
before the h in http and at the end.
curl --user admin:hackme 'http://192.168.0.1:8000/admin/metadata?mount=/live&mode=updinfo&song=Artist_name+Title'
notice the useage of the 's in my string and not in yours. Your string is launching
nonsense into the background via the two

Efficiently convert this SQL statement to ActiveRecord loop
Hey Folks,
My app compares the last known set of files located on a series of
servers against a current snapshot for auditing purposes. Its working
really well, and I''ll open source it when its complete!
Here''s my current issue (and forgive me, I started life as a DBA and I
constantly want to revert to connection.execute.)

NYC Area R / S / S-Plus Users Group Forming, Thursday, April 26th
Hi gang.
So I'm actually carrying through on the threat I made a couple of months
back, and helping to start a local users group for the NYC Metropolitan
area. Here's a copy of the announcement of our introductory / planning
meeting, I also can send a flyer version of this to anyone who wants (Open
Office document, should be viewable in MS-Office). Please feel free to
attend,

winbind: group name doesn't map to a SID, but gid does
I'm using winbind v3.0.22 on Debian Linux as a source for nss info.
I have a group that was once known by winbind, but is no more:
------ beging shell except ------
# ls -ld ./
drwxrws--- 10 root $MND000-TT227MV5K24I 4096 2006-05-10 15:41 ./

------ end shell except ------
It must have been known, as I was the one who chgrp'ed the dir
originally.
I know what the group name is

How to change the lengend in a DA figure
Dear all:
I have encountered a problem recently:
I used to plot figure, and using code
"main="......", xlab=".....",ylab="....."
to change the legend. But recently I was using R to perform Discriminant Function analysis, and I want to change the group names also add a title to the figure, but I am not sure how to make it work, could you please help me with my

winbind can see some groups but not others
Hello,
I followed the steps at
http://www.enterprisenetworkingplanet.com/netos/article.php/3487081
for adding a v3.0.21a samba and winbindd server to a MsAD domain and
configuring nsswitch.conf to find passwd and group info from winbind.
This seems to have worked out fine, except that I can't 'see' or
'recognize' certain groups via getent or via wbinfo -g.
E.g. I can see the

how to make 'winbind nss info = sfu' work in v >= 3.0.26a
There is an instance of Ms.Active Directory that has had the 'Services
For Unix' applied.
I use winbind v3.0.24 to get user/group info from that Ms.Active directory
instance like so:
-------- begin smb.conf snippet: ------------
security = ADS
realm = mydomain.com
workgroup = MYDOMAIN
winbind enum groups = yes
winbind enum users = yes
winbind nested groups = yes
winbind nss info = sfu

2 D non-parametric density estimation
I have spatial data in 2 dimensions - say (x,y). The correlation
between x and y is fairly substantial. My goal is to use a
non-parametric approach to estimate the multivariate density describing
the spatial locations. Ultimately, I would like to use this estimated
density to determine the area associated with a 95% probability contour
for the data.
Given the strong correlation between x and

win2k domain-less client failing to authenticate when securit y=domain
Hi Jonathan,
Yep, samba sends the domain name as well as the username to the domain
controller, and what I think happens is the NT controller sees that the
domainname passed is NOT his domain, checks his list of trusted domains,
doesn't find it, and says sayonara buddy... I am assuming that 'SATURN' is
the netbios name of the win2k client machine? I'm not real clear on how

Another relay question...
I currently have 3 mountpoints, 128, 56 and 24. I'm using darkice as
the source and I'm relaying to another server running icecast2. I'm
assuming that darkice is using lame for transcoding the bit-rates on
the fly and sending 128k/s + 56k/s + 24k/s to the relay host... which
is using a lot of bandwidth on the source network (which I don't have
much to spare). Is there any

using garchFit() to fit ARMA+GARCH model with exogeneous variables
Hello -
Here's what I'm trying to do. I want to fit a time series y with
ARMA(1,1) + GARCH(1,1), there are also an exogeneous variable x which I
wish to include, so the whole equation looks like:
y_t - \phi y_{t-1} = \sigma_t \epsilon_t + \theta \sigma_{t-1}
\epsilon_{t-1} + c x_t where \epsilon_t are i.i.d. random
variables
\sigma_t^2 = omega + \alpha \sigma_{t-1}^2 + \beta

bootstrap means by strata
All -
I have an uneven set of replicates and would like to sample from this set X number of times to generate a mean for each grouping variable. I was thinking the boot package would be the thing to use, but now I'm not so sure ... given the discussion here:

windbind, 'template homedir', and macros
I am currently using Mssfu, nss_ldap, and pam_ldap to enable my linux boxes
to auth against MsA.D. and get all their user info from MsA.D.
I recently discovered that winbind can accomplish the same without
Mssfu, as long as I'm content to be limitted by the winbind config
directives 'template shell' and 'template homedir'. I'd like to drop
sfu if I can.
The 'template
