somewhat OT--windows logon script
Hi Group,
We use a simple logon script to map drives for our users. If we put the
following line:
net use /delete * /yes
then no drives are mapped on the workstations. If we rem it out, the
script works fine.
Full script below:
net use /delete * /yes
net use e: \\server5\peachtree
net use w: \\server5\contract_maintenance
net use t: \\server5\fleet
net use x: \\server5\allusers
net use u:

Samba PDC, v3.0.25b, tdbsam: should Server have its own SID etc ?
Help...
I'm running Samba v3.0.25b, recently upgraded.
I use tdbsam, winbindd etc.
The Samba machine is a PDC. If the machine is FRED and the domain is
HOME, should I set up a machine account for FRED and join that to the
HOME domain ?
Should the machine FRED have its own domain SID ?
Or... is are the machine FRED and the domain HOME one and the same ?
Thanks,
Chris

Samba PDC, v3.0.25b, tdbsam: winbindd seems to be broken...
Help...
I'm running Samba v3.0.25b, recently upgraded from v3.0.23a.
I use tdbsam, winbindd etc.
Winbind appears to be broken. When I do:
* getent passwd
none of the DOMAIN\xxxx users are listed
* getent group
the BUILTIN\administrators and BUILTIN\users groups are listed,
but none of the DOMAIN\xxxx groups
* wbinfo -u
gives an enigmatic "Error

cannot logon domain after upgrade 3.0.20 to 3.0.28
I have a working copy of Samba 3.0.20 (installed under /usr/samba) configured as a PDC.
Recently I install Samba 3.0.28 under /usr/newsamba, and copy the files lib/smb.conf (with path modifications), private/*, var/locks/* to the new locations.
Following the HOWTO, the groups "Domain Admins", "Domain Users", and "Domain Guests" (with RID's 512, 513, 514 resp.) are

Yum strangeness
Hi all,
I was about to do an update on my server, but looking at what the
output was and here's the output from the beginning with other parts
left off. I currently don't even have the clamav server installed, but
am using the 0.93 version of clamav-milter.
I've never seen yum throw in so many packages that aren't even
installed. I understand the dependencies has to be

Windows ME Logon scripts
I cannot seem to execute any logon %U.bat scripts. It see's them because I get a black box screen and a message 'running logon scripts'.
If the user.bat file does not exist it simply skips this step. So I know it sees my bat files. If I execute it from the windows ME pc after the pc is booted up it works. The bat file is as follows:
rem Network logon script
net use h: \\win\homes
