WG: Windows vista ultimate samba 3.0.31
I found the solution:
I tried the srvmgr tool from microsoft to get connected to my samba 3
domain (from an XP client).
And this tool told me the same "There is no PDC found for your domain.
You may go on but but your rights may be
Restricted." As I logged on I saw that both my PDC and BDC where BDCs.
I stopped my BDC. Logged on to my PDC and remembering that I had also

[smbd4wins] wins hook - ttl so long ?
Hi folks,
i've a question about the ttl, which my wins hook script gets from
smbd4wins:
I record many entries with extrem high ttls like
refresh $SERVER 20 1181977528 $IPADDRS...
the ttl of 1181977528 means ~13.000 days which is very long.
if i look into the ldb itself, there's an expiry time of ~ 24days
(16.06.2007).

Why the data got from "top" and "xentop" are different?
Hi All,
I''m a beginner in Xen. Recently I''ve configured one VM (vm03) hosted in my
physical machine. I ran the "netperf" workload in the vm01, and used the
"top" command in the vm03 to test the behavior of the running workload.
Meanwhile, I also used the "xentop" command in domain0 to see the resource
consumption in vm03. Interestingly, I found that

CPU usage from top
I'm seeing some strange results from top on CentOS 4.0. When it first
starts, it reports low CPU usage. The next refresh (and subsequent)
refreshes, it shows high CPU usage. In both cases, there is nothing
shown in the process list that is using much CPU. What is causing
this?
Here is some truncated output from a single run of "top -b -n 2":

X windows is taking 99 percent of cpu
I am running centos 4.2 on a P4 3 GIG with 2 GIG ram.
This machine has been fine for months. my laptop is fine.
X is taking 99 percent of the cpu after some time. All I was doing was
editing code.
If I killall -9 X it comes back for a while then maxes out again.
Any ideas on something to tweek??? THanks,
jerry

duplicate commands
Hi,
I just upgraded to CentOS 5.3 last night and see these duplicate
commands (migration/0, migration/1) when running top -c?
Is this normal? If not, how do I fix it to make only one command show
up?

Upgrading 3.2.15 to 3.3.12 sernet package on opensuse 10.2
Dear all, I have samba 3.2.15 PDC running with an openldap backend and
smbd4wins on the same host. There is also a BDC the same as my PDC. After I
did an update to 3.3.12 on my BDC this worked on the fly without problems.
Then I went on doing the same update on my PDC with the result of chaos. No
user was able to logon anymore , when I did a smbclient -L mypdc -N it was
extremely slow, and my

SMBD using nearly 100 percent CPU
Over the past few months, I have seen many postings here about runaway
smbd processes with Samba versions 3.0.20 and above. Personally, it
never happened to me until today. Also, I have stuck with Samba 3.0.13
on most of my machines because of THIS reported issue and a couple of
other issues that I have experienced.
However, I have a machine running RIGHT NOW where smbd has gone out of

puppetmasterd continuously consuming high CPU, with many interrupts
So, I have a server at home that has four VMs running inside it.
All are managed via puppet. The physical host runs puppetmasterd.
I don''t recall noticing this before, but puppetmasterd has decided
to be kind of crazy. Here''s the physical host with no puppetmasterd
running:

question about top output
hi all,
below is the output of top off a machine i have, sorted by CPU utilization.
my question is, how can all 8 CPUs say they're pegged at 100% user utilization, when there are just these 8 processes saying they're using 25% of a CPU each, and no other processes showing up taking any resources? i have run this test on other machines and they act as expected. i found this b/c this
